This talk is just one of many which encourages us to forgive and put up with people who are downright mean and unchristian! The emphasis is always on forgive and cover over, move on, don't make a fuss. Nasty, power hungry people in the org. use this as an excuse to hurt others because they know they can with impunity. Why don't we get more talks telling people not to hurt others in the truth, not to misuse their position of authority, not to be judgemental and unpleasant - and how about the organisation actually deal with people who do hurt lowly ones instead of telling the meek ones to put up with mistreatment and shut up. -

There are some Elders that I personally know, who really try to be encouraging. They just can't counteract the overall abuse that is built into the system.
The underlying issue is the mistaken belief that the GB are God's mouthpiece on earth. So an Elders conscience may tell them that so-and -so is not a threat to the congregation for doubting, because they also have doubts. They may know that Elder so-and-so is a douche, or CO What'shisnutz is a total a-hole, but what can they do? "Jehovah", aka "Mother", says to follow procedure.
If you are still in, you have 2 choices as I see it:
1) Get out and accept the consequences.
2) Fade and craftily use their own legalism against them. This means studying the WTBTS history, knowing MORE than all the Elders combined. Being a bible student, even if you are an agnostic or atheist.
Then you must play the part of a questioning, yet respectful brother or sister and never be condescending to those who are "superior" to you. You must cause enough dissonance to hopefully awaken them, or just confuse them to where they leave you alone for the most part.
Make no mistake, YOU WILL NOT FIX THE WTBTS. It is beyond saving.
