These students noted that their religious beliefs prevented them from interacting with other students who were engaged in partying, substance abuse, womanizing,

and other actions that would be considered inappropriate for Jehovah's Witnesses
    .

Once again, they compare themselves to the worst examples of student behavior to convince themselves they are better than the crowd because have the true religion. They spend their life assuming everyone is ( not just some) wicked. They reinforce this by looking for the most horrible examples out there to prove their foregone conclusion. Just look at the cover of any Awake! magazine and the titles of the articles to see how they operate.

Ships are always safer and less likely to encounter rough seas when they are tied up to the dock but that's not what ships were built for.

Not being an idiot will help you in college too. As stated before you can't take the worst example possible and then say if you were a dub that wouldn't happen. Anyone who practices the " golden rule " for instance, would benefit, not just JW's. Of course the most spiritual of dubs will tell you from the stage that " wordly people " don't love thier families like dub do. So take what those kids said with a grain of salt. Besides what are dubs doing in college anyway? I bet their families are not " spiritual ".
