OK for all you money savers....

Here's one I found out about last week, and upon taking advantage of it I found out that we will save $670 per year!

Instead of getting refills on the meds we take every month (including allergy tabs, flouride, etc etc,) our health insurance program has a plan that allows you to purchase a 90 day supply at once. So instead of paying a copay every thirty days, we pay one every 90 days.

In addition, the copays themselves are reduced. At the pharmacy counter, my Allergy tab copay is $26 per month.... With a 90 day supply it's twenty for the whole three months.

With generics, it's a $5 copay per 90 day supply.

So I thought I'd share my latest coup with y'all. Check with your health insurance, and if you have this benefit I'd suggest this tactic.

When you visit your doctor, ask them to write you two rxs. One for a 15 day supply (which you can get filled locally) and one for a 90 day supply (that you can mail in.) Some Drs. don't even mind giving you samples for the 15 days while you wait for your mail order to be processed.

For my husband's Dr (who he 'didn't want to bother to save a few bucks) I called and requested all his refills... More than one way to skin a RAT. CAT.

In case I'm coming across as a tight ass, LOL, my money saving ways have allowed us to put this house on the market only two years after we bought it (Tons of square footage but in serious need of gutting/renovating. I did all the rehab myself except for laying tile) and we'll turn a $70,000 profit in two years.

Ha ha, at this rate I'll never have to go back to work.

    Lisa
