I am not sure how is it in the Western Europe or Northern America, but in ex-communist block these people are on the bottom of social ladder.
But the fact that Jehovah personally CHOSE THEM to be His servants gives them status in their minds. They are special. Only they will be preserved into God's New World and be given Everlasting Life in Paradise.
