One of the things that would frustrate and offend me as an
elder was the Society's endless presumption that they could
micromanage their way out of trouble. Every C.O. visit,
and every painfully boring Kingdumb Ministry School inferred
the same message - a tweak here, an adjustment there and everything
will be OK.

I guess I shouldn't be surprized given that this organization
has now entered its final phase - senescense! A kind of tradition
bound, vitality drained state mirroring the elderly bureaucrats
who run things - out of their ivory tower.

It was all I could do not to scream in these stupid meetings -
that arranged Titantic deck chairs in neat rows.

Example: Kids are falling out of the 'truth'

Solution: express interest in them while you take them
out in service (Gee, I'm so glad you made time in your busy
schedule to care about me personally while clocking hours
for your field sevice report). That one really made me sick-
when I fondly remembered adults who helped me when I was young
- usually people not in the 'truth' who cared!

So, I wouldn't worry too much about any radical moves against
'apostates' or anything else that manifests much vitality
coming out of this weary leadership. Just read your magazines
and put in your time and let them nap zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Interesting points and a true assessment.

The difference now though seems to be a very slow, gradual shift in power from the GB to the legal and other deptartment. It will be fascinating to see what kind of changes come about in time.

I can't help but wonder what the org. will be like when the GB members have passed away and non-anointed "brothers" are running the show. I would imagine that may ruffle the feathers of those who sincerely profess to be of the anointed and attend congregations.

Of course, Brooklyn doesn't really believe that there are over 8000 left, and it's generally accepted by the "spiritually strong" that most of the 8,000 who claim anointing are from regions in the world such as parts of Africa where people are uneducated and aren't capable of fully understanding the "deep things of the scriptures." That attitude will likely infect the up and coming leaders who'll be out of the other sheep class.

I was reading last night on Freeminds about what happened in 1980. Here's what Albert Shroeder had to say during the witch hunt:

The surfacing of this issue was more than the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses could bear. Stinging responses were made to the Bethel family such as these, made by Albert Schroeder, speaking to elders of the Bethel family on May 29, 1980:

"We serve not only Jehovah God but we are under our 'mother' (the organization). Our 'mother' has the right to make rules and regulations for us... This book, entitled Branch Organization Procedure, contains 28 subjects; and its sub-sections involve regulations and administration. In it there are 1,177 policies and regulations...this is an improved, fine-tuned organization, and we are expected to follow its policies. If there are some who feel that they cannot subject themselves to the rules and regulations now in operation, such ones ought to be leaving and not be involved here in the further progressive work."

The Watchtower depended on two things for the last 100 years in order to get new converts (and new money)

1) lying about their past. Not an option anymore. Too many books at the public library --too much internet -- and now, too much newspapers, radio and tv. God bless the free press!!!

2) the emotionally, mentally, psychologically, socially disenfranchised individuals. Not a lot we can do about thtese ones. Go all the way back and read tattoogirl's first few posts. Go all the way back and read 'troubled' first few posts. Undereducated, underemployed, psychologically disturbed individuals appear to be making up the bulk of the new converts.

Now there was a time when this organization could pick someone up, dust them off, and make something of them. Not anymore. This organization is too sick to be helping anybody else. They are beating, raping, and murdering one another at a rate probably unprecedented in their 120+ year history----they can help no one. Plus, they ask too high a price in return--in many cases, your life.

This shouldn't be construed as an attack, but I honestly have serious doubts about your ever having been an "elder", Metatron; and for that matter as to whether you were ever, I mean EVER, even a JW. You seem to be so good at making up stories, how would anyone know for sure. I literally fail to see how you could EVER have qualified to be an elder in any congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Before becoming an ELDER you first have to be baptized. Before becoming an ELDER you must first become a Ministerial Servant. To become that you must be "recommended". Then, in order to move on up to an ELDER, you must be "recommended" again for that position. In order to be recommended for either position you first have to display the right qualities. Nah, I don't believe you in the least! You're a fake that's no doubt coming onto this board with your concocted stories in order to cast the WTS in a bad light. And I reckon you're not the only one up to such tricks, I might mention. Afterall, nobody here truly knows who you REALLY are. At least I've posted my photo, for crying out loud. Where's YOUR photo? name? email address? physical address or location? ... just SOMEWHERE here in the "United States of America", eh? Just SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, supposedly in this part of a great big world full of countless people. And really, insofar as your general location, who can tell for sure if THAT is even the truth, since you could've lyingly and just as easily typed in "Africa" and all here still would've had to take your word for it.
