Earlier this year, an older Witness relative told me to help myself to their "theocratic" library. Within one of the Bibles, I found the above tract.

    Hello Londo111,

I've been looking for anything with 1975 mentioned in it. That is a great example.

Which tract was that? Can you post a scan of the whole thing, front, back, and inside pages?

    Nice find.

You know, I saw a documentary a while ago about our concepts of time, it was explained that time is not as easily definable as we think. And that it is not linear, it doesn't "stream" forward as we are accustomed to think. At least that's what scientists say.

In reading the book of Matthew, generation was viewed as a non-overlapping reference frame for time. Matthew 1:17 says, " So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations. "

Each generation therefore, averages out to roughly a 40 year period. In Matthew 24:34, this generation (that is the one in 30AD) would not pass away until all these things occurred (including the Great Tribulation).

    30 AD + 40 years (a generation) = 70 AD

Thus, in those terms, we are coming close to the end of the generation that saw 1975. This tract is from that generation.

Good find. I have a handful of Asleeps with the "Creator's Promise" that I plan on asking questions about the next time dubs show up at the door.

I'm not an apologist for JWs. I must say though, "as the days of Noah--so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man" (Mt 24:37). Doing the math according to the days of Noah:

Noah warned his generation circa 100 years. We are approaching 100 year since 1914 in 2014. JWs generation calibration of 70-80 for a generation is a misfire. According to The Centenarian website the centenarian population on earth in 2014 will be around 400,000-450,000.

That’s plenty enough senior peers to fulfill that prophecy. Modern miracle drugs extending longevity is the x-factor trip wire unaccounted for causing the JW debacle of1975. That factor accounted for puts the Mt 24:37 100 year 1914 generation in play.

Interesting, the JW religious invention is exposed as false, while at the same time possibly that prophecy could arrive fulfilled on time in the 1914 context.

    I’m just say’n.
