Good day folks...for some time now, I've been trying to be deleted as an MS as this will even make my fade much easier...the body of elders in my "home" congregation, where I was "appointed" is asking for a letter stating that I won't be able to live to up to the responsibilties of being an MS and would therefore like to be removed...I'm not the best at writing and asking for some help w/o making it seem that I'm stepping down for "apostate" reasons...

Thanks! I can't wait to send this letter to them on Sunday and then perhaps next week the announcement is made!

    hi Kool Jo

    hi Kool Jo

i was in a very similar position a few months ago.

I spoke to the COBE who is a good friend of mine. i outlined some things i was no longer happy and he understood. he then spoke with the BOE and said i wanted to come off and that i was doing this as i was unable to take some direction at the moment. they all have been quite quiet towards me.

remember that you volunteered to be a MS and now you are un-volunteering. you own them nothing.

say things like I am going through a difficult time in my personal life and i feel i cannot give of my best to the congregation if you want them to go easy on you and not to draw too much attention to you......

Keep it very simple and to the point. Just write...

I am stepping down as ministerial servant in the " " Congregation.

Date - Name (Print) - Signature

There is no need to state your reason in your letter. However, in conversation, you might as well count on them asking you why. You only have to tell them something to the effect of "I'm a little mentally wore out right now and need a little break, that's all. I'll be back to my old self in no time. I really appreciate you asking."

It's not always what you say...it's how you say it. ;) Good luck!!

If you can convey that you feel disappointed in yourself for feeling like you can't handle it right now...that would really help. You can also say you don't wanna be on the talk schedule for awhile either. I'ts all up to you and what your situation allows. There is no one perfect answer for everyone. Just roll it over in your head a bit and it'll all come to you. I would go straight to the COBE before anyone else..then you will only have to got through the motions once.

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN WRITING.

Simply tell them you need a break.

If they continue to load you up with responsibilities, do not show up for those responsibilities.

They will have no choice but to cover you and they will most likely wait until the CO comes to discuss it then.

Anything you put into writing will be used against you.

Missing meetings and failing to complete assignments is not a disfellowshipping matter if that is what you are trying to avoid.

    Play the game. Win.

The bastards are trying to trick you to fall into the trap and make you look guilty:

I won't be able to live to up to the responsibilties of being an MS

    REVERSE their twisted logic:

My responsibilities do not allow me to serve anymore as a MS.

No need to write anything else. You do not need to explain to anyone what your responsibilities are.

I suppose a letter is required and failure to comply will be considered brazen conduct. You see there is no logic in the kingdom of the spimGB.

Thank you all for your responses....as suggested, I'm gonna keep it simple and to the point...I won't be physically meeting with the elders since I don't live in that city anymore...so they asked for a letter.

They wanted to send my publisher card/info to the KH where I moved to so I can continue serving as an MS....I told then no, because my job has me moving every few months...

Will keep ya'll posted on what happens...I'm sending off the letter tomorrow.

    Peace

    Kool Jo
