Hmmmmmmm. I'm a fan. Not sure what constitutes a BIG fan. As you said, the things I pointed out are pretty much common knowledge.
I usually go to the movies with a couple of friends on Fridays, after work. I'll see the movie the first Friday it's out. If that's opening day, then I'll see the movie opening day. One of my friends doesn't work on Fridays so I won't stand in line at all. I imagine he'll stand in line for about 10-15 minutes.
As for your other arguments, you seem to be making two of them: A) The movie was boring and repetative; B) It was a scheme on the part of George Lucas to dupe loyal and unsuspecting fans.
I don't vehemently disagree with the first argument. I was expressing why I disagreed with the second. Whether people thought the parallels were boring or exciting, there was a reason for it beyond just trying to cheat moviegoers into effectively paying for the same movie twice.
Maybe that sentiment was hyperbole on your part, illustrating your depth of feeling for argument A. In that case I agree, just not as strongly.
In either case, no need to think that a rather minor disagreement over a movie means someone's toes are being stepped on.
Hmmm
