I would average 12 - 15 hours a months in FS, attend all the meetings. pre-study for the group. I had at least one item a week on either the school or service meeting. Group visits when I was service overseer, Watchtower prep, assemblies, elders meetings, shepherding calls, JC's - where the fuck did I find the time for all this shit????
cantleave you have brought back horrible memories. I remember one time being in an elder's meeting for 6 hours. I thought I was dead at the end. The CO told the BOE to limit it to 2 hours max. They did, but just had more of them. I could not believe all the time I spent doing work in behalf of the cong. The time wasted was gigantic. But the anxieties from cong problems aged me several years. The time away from family was heart-wrenching.
I once did a calculation like that. As a working mom, doing all that was needed for my family (cooking, cleaning, homework, etc) plus all the Society required, I would have maybe 6 hours or so in the week to call my own. I think I kind of gave up a little then. I didn't think that was enough for any person to have any kind od happy life. I stayed for another ten years, but I stoped caring if I missed meetings, or field service. I just did the minimum.
