    dear Fernando...

you said: "We cannot earn, deserve or pay for salvation as religionists would have us believe (with the view to assuming authority and control over us)"...

please explain who or what you mean by "religionist" and "assuming authority" and "control over"

    Faith pleases Him.

Us listening to His Son pleases Him.

Feeding the poor; giving to the needy; showing love and mercy and compassion and forgiveness and kindness to one another.

Whatever it is . . . he isn't getting enough of it.

    You might be right, Size.

Good thread, Fernando. I think some of the answers here show just how far religion has swayed from being able to teach us what pleases God. Because quite a few of those answers are about the god of various religions.

What would you think of a father who constantly reminds you that you aren't good enough. Makes sure you know every day you wouldn't be here without him and that you are so far inferior to him that you are worthless. All the while this father threatens to kill you if you make him mad enough. Sounds like a great dad.

    I thought of Micah 6:7-8

7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? ...

8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee,

but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

    Yes.

And these acts of mercy, of kindness, of justice, of forgiveness.... are the sacrifices and 'fasting' that God desires.

A person doesn't even need to believe in god to do those things. 'Course, NOT believing in him would tick him off and void all the other things that he likes, right?

    Wrong.

(these would be those who have the law written upon their hearts and consciences... doing the things required of the law naturally; these would be the ones Christ invites into the kingdom because HE knows THEM by all the things that they did, including to the 'least of those who belong to Him')

    'Wrong'.

    Okay.

'these would be the ones Christ invites into the kingdom because HE knows THEM'

And, if they decline the invitation, or are hindu, muslim, atheist or something, and wish to stay so, then what?

Um... lol... if this is His return, and so He is revealed to everyone, then what would be the reason for anyone to...um... remain atheist (or something else)?

    'if'

IF. Let's leave it there, shall we? In the mean time, life goes on, the planet keeps spinning, evolution happens, etc, etc. I would say that it's a full stop at that 'if' point for the atheists that you mentioned.

Another point as well. You connect jesus and not being atheist, as if believing in jesus exactly matches believing in biblegod. That is an assumption. How can you be sure that jesus' personal, real appearance to someone equals or assures their automatic belief in biblegod?
