EmergedAsMe, in the churches I'm familiar with or have friends in, eg, Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Baptist, Light and Life etc, United Free Church, safeguarding is of top priority.

EmergedAsMe, I really like your name very much. It expresses how I feel, relief that I got out more or less intact, but considerably wounded...very much so.

I saw that happen many times in my congregation, hell sometimes I'd end up with the much older men and I would pull a face - on the inside. I would be so bummed that I landed with the old foggies and not my friends. I knew that the service would be very boring that day. I think in their minds they see it as grooming the child in being a preacher - learn from their elders on how the preaching work should be done.

Now that I know what has gone on in that faith - it's down right creepy. Little people should work with their parents! Hell they shouldn't even be on the bloody field work anyway - it's not normal for little kids to do that, especially after a 2 hour meeting. (we had our meetings from 8-10 in the morning and field service followed!)
