I told some JW friends about the confirmed changes to the understanding of who the FDS is. Two brothers that are in appointed positions stated "I thought that was the understanding already".

And, can anyone give me the reference from approximately 2 years ago where the WT was trying to explain why the majority of the annointed are NOT having a share in distributing "spiritual food" via WT publications?

    2009 gave a clear-cut 'NO'

However, were all spirit-anointed Christians involved in overseeing the preaching work and in preparing spiritual food? No. The apostle Paul tells us: "Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all perform powerful works, do they?" (1 Cor. 12:29) Although all spirit-begotten Christians engaged in the preaching work, only a very limited number-just eight different men-were used to write the 27 books of the Christian Greek Scriptures.

Do all anointed Christians on earth share in providing spiritual food?

No. All who are anointed with God's spirit are part of the faithful and discreet slave class, but those making up the Governing Body oversee the spiritual feeding.-6/15, pages 22-24.

The ideal that only the 9 members of the Governing Body are the FDS is new .The idea that only the 9 of the GB provide spiritual food has been around for some years .This is not significant change for your local elders ,all they is care is their position ,doctrinal changes is not something that interests them anymore .

I overheard a relative who is an elder say to another member of my family, 'of course that's what I believed anyway'. I was incensed at the comment and walked off, to me he was admitting that until 'the truth' fits into his interpretation of it he's happy to dispense the latest GB drivel.

Now, they should also be told they are very lucky to have not been disfellowshipped for apostasy then! Tch tch, running ahead of the chariot...

I guess this demontrates the Watchtowers method of operation.

Spend a few short years (for the rank and file have short memories) creeping in the change and by the time they make it, most already figure it!

Doing this i am sure they could do away with 1914 and any other pesky problems.

I think they have long operated this way, because it works, people learn the new doctrine by a kind of osmosis so when they hear it mentioned or see it in print it fits with what they already thought.

Except they didn't think it, it was planted in their mind, that is how WT mind control functions.

Until one day you wake up as I did and say "I don't have to leave this religion, it has already left me". It is not the religion I was born in to, it is not the religion I grew up in, which was not the religion I was born in to, etc etc as it keeps on morphing constantly.

It will change again, it will have to.

And yet, Truth never changes, so when did/will the WT/JW religion become the "truth" ?

Ironic quote, in view of the fact that they will soon be saying that since the FDS provides the meat in due season, only those responsible for preparing the spiritual food -- the GB -- make up the FDS class.

I told some JW friends about the confirmed changes to the understanding of who the FDS is. Two brothers that are in appointed positions stated "I thought that was the understanding already".

At first blush, it sounds like these brothers don't know the organization's teachings very well.

But one of the marks of a cult is that when the authority figure changes doctrines, the R & F happily go along and quickly forget that it was ever otherwise. Very similar to Orwell's 1984...

Hey, Aussie. How did you change your avatar?

As for the doctrine of the FDS, I thought it was something the GB has been creeping towards for some time. They probably couldn't have gotten away with it had they announced it a couple of years ago.

If I were a Dub, I'd sure want to be part of the spirit ruling class. Am I to understand that there are going to be 144,000 rulers over the Earth when it's gardenfied?

I was listening to a talk the other day, I think from around 1972, mining for quotes from talks between '68 and '75, (sick, I know) and a comment was made in this talk that basically said that the Governing Body is the Faithful and Discreet Slave, so the thought really isn't anything new, they just made it official ... probably too many questions as to why other members of the "Slave Class" had no say so in what was taught so they once and for all cut the line.
