D8TA mentioned E.T, I remember here they said that E.T was wrong, because it was putting hope in an alien, and not the real messiah. That may be in a watchtower.
What films and TV shows couldn't you watch?

"Bewitched," because at one JW's house, they tried to turn this demonic program off and a hand came out of the TV set and turned the show back on.
"Gilligan's Island," because the actor who played Gilligan (Bob Denver) was busted for pot.
"Soap," because homosexuality was portrayed.
"I Dream of Genie," because genies were considered "demonic."
It was much more important for children to study publications of the WTBTS that contained graphic depictions of human and animals being slaughtered by natural catastrophic forces put into motion by the loving god of the Watchtower.

There were so many but the ones that pop into my head,
[Smurfs]
"Because they were blue demons"
[Felix the cat]
"Because he had that evil bag of tricks" -
Dutchie
The Golden Girls, because the middle-aged women were having sex without being married.

In our rural MN congregation, everything rated R was out. We even were looked down upon for watching PG and PG-13 movies. I remember alot of older bro's and sis's getting after us because there was sarcasm. I guess that was too much for them.
All soap operas were off limits, as well as and cartoons that hinted of magic or ghosts or any sort of violence. Our presiding overseer got after us for watching "The Little Mermaid"! His daughters got away with watching Aladdin, but could not watch Little Mermaid?????? Something dont click there!
We were always encouraged to watch the societies videos when they came out in the early 90's.
Now that I am out of the org, I do not hold myself to those silly rules anymore, although I do have personal preferences that I go by.
Did any of you ever hear of the JW rating system?
G = Garbage
PG = Pure Garbage
R = ReproachfulWe had a brother who was always telling us those "ratings" from the platform. He was one of those brothers who would get all tearful and start sobbing from the stage if something hit him as particularly emotional. He also forbid us to use the word WEIRD because he said it had demonic meaning.
