TS, LOL!!! What's sad is that while they are perfectly willing to take your children and your money.... they will never give you a dime. They don't even have a program in place to give food to their own. Thank for helping ONLY when disaster strikes! What about the rest of our lives, especially the elderly and poor. Even the 1st century christians, although not the FDS ( tm ) hardy,har,har...took care of orphans and widows. By the way don't work overtime becaue you could lose your spiritual balance, but continue to contribute money to the KH and pay for gas and cars for the CO and DO. Lame... Just for the record, I would have no problem contributing to a charitable organization/religion that admitted their mistakes and admitted they do not have all the answers and really helped others. I love the people in the org, but the org has got to go..

very true about maintenance costs....even with free labor......this place sounds like a white elephant though. why did they need a marble halled hotel anyway?

Isn't it interesting that when the Society acquires these luxurious old buildings (I'm thinking of the Stanley Theater too), they pay good money to fix up things that were wrecked? Why bother restoring the ruined marble floor using the original quarry? Worshipping God doesn't require marble floors. Just rip it up and replace it with something cheap. Why replace the old sky projector in the Stanley? I don't get how this helps true worship. It would certainly be smart thinking if you were running a real estate company, though....

My ex lived in the Bossert for a year. He would tell me how beautiful it was. I guess it's something to see!

Btw, I talked to him yesterday and he said he is done with the 'Truth'. I told him about this site and Crissis of Conscience book. He did not feel this way when we were together. Said he's tired of living his life afraid. I'm glad for him.

Don't read too much into this guys. If an agent says something is worth a certain amont, they are usually going to come in lower. Its the nature of real estate. I don't think its desperation. Its 81 million for a hotel in Brooklyn. Probably about right.

    Theocratic Sedition-I need that shirt.

I worked in the Bosssert when I was a kid, worked in the sliver doing sheetrock and went to Paterson spent a month and a half up there in an alcoholic haze. I was 16 at the time and drank like a fish, it was crazy how much those kids liked to drink.

That was about the time I kind of started asking all my questions about the Club.

BTW the Bossert is a designated Landmark building and there are rules governing how they are restored.

I remember taking a tour of the Bossert with my Bethelite brother back in 1987. Just standing in the lobby I was embarrassed by how luxurious it was, and how it had been paid for by donations for "the worldwide work." And I was a very loyal JW at the time.

Candace Conti is , rightfully, in line to pick up some of this cash, that the WT infers they do not have.

Why are they selling this hotel again? I was there in 2011 and it is a very beautiful hotel. I wanted to see one of the rooms. I know the obvious reason is for the money but is their another obvious reason?
