A Major TV production company seeking YOUNG ADULTS STRUGGLING WITH THEIR RELIGION
An Emmy-winning television production company is seeking young adults (late teens - mid 20s) who are questioning, struggling with, or rebelling against their religious upbringings. Are you thinking of changing your religion to marry your one true love? Fighting to reconcile your homosexual feelings with the teachings of your religion? Thinking of leaving behind your religious past, even if it means angering your family? If you are frustrated with your religion, but feel you have no support and nowhere to go, we encourage you to reach out to us.
If you could see yourself undergoing this journey on TV, with our help, we would love to hear your story.
Please send an email to [email protected] with:
-Your name
-Age
-A clear and recent photograph
-A bio about you and your crisis of faith
-Return contact information
-A link to video of yourself if you have it
Note: I received the above email yesterday. I wrote back to the production company and said, "Before I pass your email around to young adults who are leaving Jehovah's Witnesses, I can't ask them to give you personal information without having more information about the 'Major TV production company'. Please respond."
Today, I received a reply. After telling me the name of the company, which is in New York, and some other details, this is what the email stated:
"We've produced a number of documentary and non-fiction shows over the years, working with major networks including BBC America, Discovery, and History, among others. We're currently casting for a documentary style show that would follow young adults questioning their faith, as described below.
"We uphold the strictest standards of confidentiality throughout the casting process. Interested parties should feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns they have, as we will not be releasing any information without their explicit permission." I'm not endorsing the production company or their project. If you're interested in telling your story, please respond by email to [email protected] and, if I might add, also do your homework and thoroughly investigate the company before you agree to anything.
