I think plain old mental illness can cover it too, it's such a wide spectrum and we have plenty of examples of what it can do to posters and their delusions on this very forum, no drugs needed at all in that case.
If you read about the visions others have had throughout the ages due to religious fervor then I think it can be said that religion drives some people literally mad.
