What is your reaction to this lawsuit? Is it fair? Is it justified? Whose side do you support and why? My sincerely apology to JWN atheists who might be offended by this thread. Iam not trying to imply that they have no right whatsoever in this case.

I live in the area and really care little. SM is a lightning rod for people to complain about anything, then start petitions. It gets so petty over there

Besty - the athiests absolutely were the root cause of this contraversy. For several years, the city let them put up their own displays along with the nativities. It got so ridiculous that finally the city just said enough already - now nobody can display.

not in SM. U can have someone protest the fact that there isn't equal representation of chunky versus smooth peanut butter in the stores and bam, the media is there. Then the celebrities show up, the older sandle wearing hippies, etc etc. It's become such a douchebag capital there

Speaking as an atheist I think the park would look better with nativity scenes for a few weeks. As long as it wasn't being used for proselytizing.

What next - should we hang posters beside paintings by the Old Masters in public art galleries?

Maybe I'm missing something because we don't have a separation clause over here but it sounds like some atheists need to chill. Its christmas FFS!
