Can a JWs Elder be "removed" if his wife is known as the congregation "gossip"?

Oh my goodness, I definitely know a gossipy elder's wife. She became my study conductor!

On the very first time she took me out door to door, "on the ministry" as they say here, all she talked about was another sister's personal secrets.

I resolved to tell her none of mine, though when someone is coming into your house very regularly, they still learn a lot.

A very spiteful woman who looked so good on the outside, always made up to the nines, and wearing the latest fashion. (Below the knee, of course!)

If that sounds catty, well, maybe it is a bit, but it is also totally true and reflects my feelings about some of the humilations she put me through.

    Hi Chariklo,

These frauds claim to be Jehovah's modern day people and all they wish to do is attack their brothers and sisters with hateful gossip. I am guilty of sitting back with elders discussing the merits of a brother's credentials, his ability to control or keep his house in order, "how come he is not hospitable (meaning, how come he is not inviting the elders who can make or break him, out to dinner?" "Did you make sure you checked to see if his son's video games were not "Halo, Call of Duty", Assainsins Creed" or Zombies?

I know elders who stab their own family in the back, and plenty of sisters who attack each other (out of concern, right-e-ooo Felix) in their fierce pious-sneer competition!

Chariklo, how does this make you feel toward a Organization that tells the world they have discovered the secret of Love? Do you feel the love and joy your Kingdom Hall tells everyone they should be feeling?

Only if it gets really out of hand, and definately not as readily as an elder who's kids go to college.

A gossipy element in an authoritarian high control group (provided it's kept under a degree of control) serves the group leadership's purposes far more than a discreet one, in most cases.

The pedophile problem (for example) is one such exception.

hhahahaahahahah this is the funniest question yet!! were it true, there would be no more elders!!!!! too funny!!!

seriously though - the witnesses take the cake for being the gossipiest people on the face of the earth - imho..........

tiki - you beat me to the draw.

Too many elders run their mouths to the wifie who then has to elevate her position by being in "the know". When I tried to stem some of this in one cong. it fell on deaf ears among the body who denied it was a problem.

    Yes......definitely!

However, it all depends on husbands relationship with the rest of the body. My experiences leave me to believe that they can get rid of an elder for any back-stabbing reason, if they want to.

If, on the other hand, he is senior and well liked and "valuable" then he and his family can get away with murder. After all, it is only a HUMAN group of people . Let's not mistake them for anything Godly

Exactly and as u also pointed out, the sword works both ways. A prominent elder will skate if his wife is a loose cannon. Seen it time and again
