What piece of evidence has contributed most to your world view?

There have been so many pieces of evidence. The most profound would have been archaeological evidences that

    1) The Bible is wrong.
    2) Evolution is right.

I cannot separate the two because (2) proves (1). I have walked through the museum and read the stories on the fossil finds on animals over the billions of years and homo sapiens and their ancestors over the milleniums.

But even ignoring all that, archaeology has proven to my satisfaction that the exodus never happened, the flood never happened, the Hebrew kingdom was not what the Bible makes it out to be, other "gospels" existed and were suppressed.

The book of Exodus proves the Bible is wrong. So therefore, I do not need to be shackled by some book written by shepherds thousands of years ago. It also makes me wonder why anybody buys into it.

    DNA, black holes, evolution

Learning about black holes was an AHA! moment for me. When I read that the earth is going to fall into a black hole in 50 million years or so if not sooner, everything changed in my point of view. The earth is no more special than any other part of the universe, and when we disappear it will be so complete it will be as if we never existed.

Hortensia, the earth is not going to fall into a black hole in 50 million years, your source has got that dead wrong.

I held firm against evolution for many, many years by pointing out that science has never observed or demonstrated the emergence of a new species that can no longer mate with its parent species.

One day a blogger said, 'that used to be true but they did that with plants'.

I forget who said it but some wiseman was asked 'what do you do if facts appear that contradict your opinions' . He replied "I do what any rational person should do, I change my mind'. And so I did.

I also caught on to what Darwin noticed: weird animals stuck in completely isolated areas.. God didn't put 'em there (or Noah either) so they just evolved. Like Australia. Or Madagascar.
