How the Governing Body Solved Another Problem

Their “old light” was that Jesus’ “faithful and discreet slave” appeared in 33 C.E., 1900 years BEFORE Christ’s presence began in 1914.

That interpretation had caused a problem that the Governing Body was never able to satisfactorily explain. They needed to be able to show that there has always been a functioning “faithful and discreet slave” in one form or another ever since.

But they were never able to provide any evidence for the existence of an ongoing “1900 year-old slave” prior to the appearance of the Watchtower Society.

Here is how they finally solved that problem on October 6, 2012…

“The faithful and discreet slave” must have appeared AFTER Christ’s presence began in 1914." *

Now it can easily be explained that the reason why “the faithful and discreet slave” cannot be found BEFORE the beginning of Christ’s “invisible presence” in 1914 is simply because his “slave” did not appear until AFTER Christ’s presence began in 1914.

Will any Witnesses wonder why Jehovah waited 133 years to communicate this simple answer to his channel of communication?

So I guess none of His slaves were faithful and discreet before the 20th century. Sad...

Not even Simon Peter the Rock was faithful and discrete enough until Judge Rutherford came along...

    Ditto to Wha Happened?

I just hope they aren't around long enough to say that 144,000 must have applied to the Governing Body only since there have been nearly that many.

    wha happened?

so with the number of GB only amounting to a few dozen, they have plenty of time to burn up that 144k.

    Hi Don

Virtually all WT explanations of the parable of the "faithful and discreet slave" beg questions that have no logical answers. The latest iteration has a very valid question. From the death of the apostles onward up until 1919, how where true Christians being fed spiritually? Certainly they cannot reasonably claim that for almost 1900 years there where absolutely no genuine Christians. If they existed, how where they fed? And if the method used by Jesus to feed his sheep was working just fine for 1900 years, what would be the need to suddenly alter that method?

Joseph Franklin Rutherford was the president from 1917-1942 who personally lived through and experienced 'bible prophecy' as a part of his everyday life, he believed that his predecessor C T Russel was 'that faithful and wise steward'. He later replaced a simple gravestone with a more fitting memorial, recognising Russel as The Laodicean Messenger from Revelation.

All the writers of the NT books were short of being faithful and discreet. Neither were they dispensing food at the proper time.

    makes perfect sense to me.
