I said "atheist thought" not atheist. An atheist must claim that something came from nothing.
You are still wrong. Atheism and atheist thought merely makes claims about a lack of beleifs in gods. You are adding something that isn't there.
And you know what nothing means.
I want to know what you mean. It's a simple question, why such hesitancy to answer it?
But we both know that nothing is the absence of anything quantitative.
So there can be something non-quantitave? Nothing can actually be something?
Trying to answer how nothing comes from something by questioning definitions does not state your case.
I am trying to understand YOUR case. For instance, your definition of atheist thought is incorrect and your definition of "nothing" means nothing could include something. Your assertions are both wrong and unclear.
Where else can we demonstrate, or observe NOTHING coming from SOMETHING?
Not sure, since you have defined nothing as possibly something.

We should remember that Terry is not very good as a devils advocate, as he is himself an atheist.

In that degree their goodness is derrived from the most supremely good among them.
I'll just try tackle this one. Sometimes, the sum of the parts is greater than the individual parts themselves. This argument fails at recognizing this.
Also, who defines good?

The King of all Wibble sez: We should remember that Terry is not very good as a devils advocate, as he is himself an atheist.
Inaccurate, kind sir!
I cannot claim to KNOW there is no god. How could I prove it? I claim to be ignorant of the existence of god as a provable or proven.
Slice it, dice it, mince it, blintz it.....it is a non-known, yet, it is often asserted.

I stand corrected - Terry joins me as an agnostic - for somewhat the same reasons.

I understand faith or not in a possible God.
"Anselm's argument was not presented in order to prove God's existence;
rather, Proslogion was a work of meditation in which he documented how the
idea of God became self-evident to him."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ProslogionPS: it's brought up in chap. eight of Adler's book.

I understand faith or not in a possible God.
This is the kind of statement that sent me towards math and science rather than religion or philosophy.

Why is there something rather than nothing? Well not
only can something arise from nothing, something will
arise from nothing. Mr Lawarence Krauss...
The ultimate question as crazy as it might seem, energy
may have come out of nothing. The meaning of "nothing"
is somewhat ambiguous here. It might be the vacuum
in some pre-existing space and time, or it could be nothing
at all- that is, all concepts of space and time were created
with the universe itself. Mr. A. Filippenko
With that being said, I have nothing else to say.

If it weren't for the pithiness and precision of EntirelyPossible I'd just stay home and knit cravats!
Thanks for easing the burden old chum!
Just noticed this, Terry. Thanks! Back at you! Next time I get to Dallas, we should grab a beer. Or a taco! Or a steak!
