very interesting. the figures are based on US censuses, i would guess. 1.3 million sounds about right for self-professed JWs in the USA. i seem to recall that the census numbers are dropping at a higher rate than the publisher stats, as well.

how interesting that 'babylon's waters' are doing so well comparitively, if the projections are accurate.

    hahahahaaaaaaaaaaa

JWs have been beaten out by their own worst enemy..... they Catholic Church

Ummmmmmmm wasn't "constant growth" supposed to be a sign of "God's Holy Spirit" operating on the organization??

I guess they're under the operation of "God's Holy SPIT" now!! And Jehovah has turned his favour to the Catholic Church!

Hi Randy: The figures you were given for the USA seem inconsistent with other verifiable sources: http://www.ncccusa.org/news/02news14.html

The following are the USA figures for 2000 vs 1999:

    Roman Catholic Church 63,683,030 - 62,391,484 (+Growth)
    Southern Baptist Convention 15,960,308 - 15,851,756 (+ Growth)
    United Methodist Church 8,340,954 - 8,377,662 (-Growth)
Church of God in Christ 5,499,875 - 5,499,875 (No change or Not available)
    Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 5,208,827 - 5,113,409 (+Growth)
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America 5,125,919 - 5,149,668 (-Growth)

The lastest figures for JWs shows about 990,000 for 1999, but I could not verify this right away with the NCC site.

ah. went to adherents.com (an excellent source for research) to find verification and happened upon the source of the numbers: http://www.adherents.com/rel_USA.html#families

these numbers are USA, based on a survey (ie self-professed) and show change over the last 10 years.

Don't forget about those of "no religion" in the US. We have grown from 8.2% (14.3 million) of the population to 14.1% (29.4 million) - a growth of 71.2% in the last eleven years.

Watch and observe JW double-speak at it's finest.

At one Assembly they will sit and say the constant growth of the JW while other religion's memberships are declining is proof positive that Jehovah is blessing their efforts and truly giving a Witness to the world that it is indeed the true religion. Arent you glad to be a part? (God it's sickening to remember the way they worded things)

On the other hand, I can see the spin tactic now.

They will have the conventional Rank&File in a frenzy, explaining that the decline in numbers is all part of Bible prophecy. That "the love of the greater number has cooled off" and the end is nearer than ever before!

Makes me laugh now that I think about it.

Which is it? God is blessing the growth? Or God is bringing about the decline? Even he in his Omniscience cant do both at the same time.
