Praying for worldly people being so wrong? Apparently, the witlesses think of worldly people as urine, poison. And nothing good about that--witlesses only value the opportunity to recruit those who were affected by disasters. This goes equally for things like terror attacks, mass shootings, and storms or natural disasters. Notably, after Katrina, the witlesses didn't lift a finger for anyone not their own.

I remember going to the meeting on Sept 11, 2001. It was a Tuesday, and we had our TMS & Service meeting on Tuesdays in my hall. I was a 19 year old MS, and I remember it not only because it was 9/11, but because I has just been appointed and had my first "big boy" part that was a part in the meeting reserved for Ministerial Servants or Elders. I wondered if anything would be said about 9/11, and it seemed to me like something should. My part had nothing to do with any topic that could be tied to the subject and I basically just gave it straight, afraid to deviate with it being my first part and all. Nothing was said about the attacks except in the prayer, and it had something to do with preaching to the people affected. I thought that was terrible to have a "Christian Meeting" and say nothing about the people affected by the events that very day.
I remember that night. It was packed. The only thing mentioned at our hall that night was that the destruction of 'two buildings was nothin'....NOTHIN!' compared to what mankind faces at Armageddon.

Mass murders don't have empathy for their victims. Child molesters don't have empathy for their victims either.
Think to the blood policy, it's changes, and lies within it, and the thousands hurt by it. Think of the policies that promote pedophilian within the Organization, and the thousands hurt by it.
Now, reread the first sentance. Add to it that the JWs think the innocent children are just asleep and will awake in a perfect world. Oh, their worldly parents may be dead and gone, but these kids are saved to now live with a world of only JWs. Everyone worldly is going to be a victim of Jehovah; or so the WTS says. THe WTS can't feel empathy for worldly people. It doesn't know how.
I was going to a mega-CHristian church when 9/11 happened. The service was packed there also, and the preacher tried to explain why God does nothing and whether God was a rationale, loving God and why Jesus wasn't like his Father. At least, he tried to explain and it was a warm speech. But, it fell short and I lost alot of hope in the God of Abraham that day.

WTBTS generously dedicated all of 6 lines and 4 short sentences on the third page of its’ website to report the brutal massacre of 20 beloved kindergarten children along with 6 caring teachers and school staff.
Left behind are parents, husbands, wives, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins and friends painfully grieving over the loss of such precious life. And the best you (Jehovah’s Witnesses) could do was dedicate 6 lines and 4 short sentences on the third page of your precious website.
My, I’ll bet Jehovah God, Jesus Christ and the throng of heavenly angels are so proud of you (WT) and your generosity!
May the Almighty, himself repay you in kind!

Could it be that in their zeal to be so different from the rest of evil Christendom, that they choose to not offer prayers because the rest of evil, false religion is doing so? And that they've been operating this way for so long that it's now just second nature?

Face the Facts,
I would say this is an area where a JW would say that we should pray for people who suffer, but then the corporate mindset would override that feeling. They would never come out and say that it is wrong to pray for worldly people who suffer because of the negative image it would create. They don't go to the door in field service and say " I am here today because I want to convert you. I know that you live everyday with no hope and that you don't love your family like JW's do. You are incapable of loving others because you are not a JW. Soon if you do not listen to my 5 minute presentation that God provided through the only channel for all truth, then you will be destroyed soon ".
They are programmed to say one thing in private and another in public. If asked on the spot by a reporter if JW's were allowed to pray specifically for worldy people who are suffering, then they would say " Yes ". Behind closed doors is another matter..

When I used to attend Elders Seminars and teaching sessions we were firmly told that it is never done to counsel a brother on his prayer. It was considered personal between him and God.
If anybody was really poor at it or continually inappropriate they might not use him at meetings at the K/Hall , but if he is leading F/S ...so be it !
