In March 2000, residents of Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. watched continuous, often live, news reports about an ongoing manhunt for a police fugitive on the loose. On March 8, 2000, that career criminal, named Joseph Palczynski, attempted to carjack a Jehovah's Witness family on their way to the Kingdom Hall in Joppa, Maryland. Palczynski twice shot Jennifer McDonel, 37, who was driving the family auto. The McDonels managed to drive away until they could stop and allow Thomas McDonel to drive his wife to Franklin Square Hospital. There, Jennifer McDonel died after the couple both refused to consent to a needed blood transfusion. Thomas McDonel expressed regret that he would now be forced to rear their one year-old daughter, Lydia McDonel, on his wages as a janitor. He also regretted that his wife's employer only provided a $25,000.00 life insurance policy. Interestingly, two days later in Virginia, Joseph Palczynski's vehicle run out of gasoline near the home of a Jehovah's Witness Elder named William Louis Terrell. Palczynski first asked for help with his vehicle, and afterwards kidnapped Terrell. Terrell, who afterwards explained to reporters that he had recently read an article in the WatchTower Society's AWAKE! magazine advising kidnap victims to cooperate with their kidnappers, drove Joseph Palczynski back to Maryland while quoting Bible verses (recruiting). Terrell even stopped at three or more stores, and went in alone, and purchased supplies for Palczynski, while he waited outside in the truck. Terrell shopped at a Target, purchased a portable TV at Best Buy, and bought survival supplies at an army surplus store. Once back near his home, Palczynski walked away from Terrell's pickup truck, after Terrell promised Palczynski that he would not report anything to the police. Palczynski went on to kidnap others over the next few days. One later victim questioned why in the world Terrell never telephoned the police from inside one of the stores in which he shopped, nor alerted any store employees. [Because, the AWAKE! magazine article did not tell Terrell that he could do so.] Some people even questioned police as to why Terrell was not charged with aiding and abetting Palczynski. Interestingly, a few months after Palczynski was killed, the AWAKE! magazine carried an article praising Terrell's actions that day.
Not on JW.ORG ; Jehovah's Witness mother shot on way to meeting, dies refusing transfusion. No angelic protection for meeting attendance.

That is jacked up... What if someone else had been killed? If that guy shot my wife, there would have been one less kidnapper loose on the streets. On second thought, maybe I could have given him a new WT.

A knock at a door and hours of prayer
Palczynski said he wanted to die near home, hostage says
March 13, 2000 | By Nancy A. Youssef | Nancy A. Youssef,SUN STAFF
WOODFORD, Va. -- Thirty-nine hours after being held captive by an alleged killer, William L. Terrell gathered at the kitchen table with his family yesterday and prayed for "Joby," his former captor.
They prayed for Joseph C. "Joby" Palczynski, 31, who allegedly killed four people and kidnapped another in Baltimore County and has been the object of an intense five-day manhunt by federal, Maryland and county authorities. Palczynski knocked on Terrell's door after the truck he was driving ran out of gas Friday, about 1,700 feet from Terrell's one-story ranch home.

Wow. It certainly is a world away from the 2013 Yearbook experience where one family who survived a plane crash because they attended a meeting experienced "Jehovah's hand."

Incidentally, this was the KH I was going to when I was trying to get reinstated. Not the same cong tho (3 congs to KH). Right around the corner from where I used to live. The article didn't mention that she was pregnant.

Balaam, thank you for bringing this to our attention. My goodness, how many tragedies are in that article? it is so astounding. It is so horrible. The biggest tragedy is each horrible thing being dismissed and ignored. Oh, shame on them!
The new 2013 Yearbook seems written with a slant towards new Kool-Aid drinkers. "Yes, see what happened? This family went to the K.H. and while there, a plane smashed into their apartment! They would have died! Praise Jah! They were saved because they obeyed and they were blessed because of it." We were guaranteed that loyalty to Jah will provide protection from accidents, tragedies, death, and malice. We were told we would be spared from reality. They are such masterful snake-oil salesman.
There is so much misrepresention on their part. We were told, and then we believed that:
You will not die.
Jah will save you.
Being in Jah's service gives you Angelic protection from death.
You will be honored if you sacrifice yourself to the death for Jah.
You will be spiritually blessed for your sacrifices, nothing will be forgotten.
If you are faithful to your death, you are guaranteed that you will wakeup in Paradise.
Any of this sounding so similar to the Muslim extremists? Scary isn't it? Also, notice how contradictory the Watchtower Corp.'s doctrines are.
Then, if Jah did not save you, it was because there was some hidden spiritual crime on your part. Though imperfectly born, you must now be perfect, and Watchtower Corp. will provide the magical direction to do so. Their dictions are also perfect, because it comes from God. Except when God changes his mind.
Life occures. Accidents happen. Evil happens. Happiness happens. Goodness happens. The Watchtower Corp. has no control over life. They are not responsible for the random good things that have happened to you. Jah was not responsible for the kind actions of a worldly person. Nor, will he right the wrong done in his name. It will not "come out" in Jah's due time. He will not do anything about issues "left in his hands." He is free to show goodness to us at anytime. Anytime now. Anytime…um, hello?
People die. JW's die.
In Miami, Florida, the bus driver, unfamiliar with the Airport area, chooses to ignore warning signs, and smashs his bus. Sincere JW's died, others were injured on their way to Jah's Holy Spirit blessed Circuit Assembly. Did the whole bus load forget to study their Watchtower that week?
Just outside Portland, Oregon, a newly married young JW sister was kidnapped. By her friendly, known to her, JW neighbor. Who assaults and murders her. Did neither one of them read their Daily Text at breakfast?
Both stories happened in the past 2 months.
Were these JW's who died, harboring some secret sin, so Angels did not protect them? NO.

Hey, I remember that story, 'cause it was somewhat close to my area. Never really thought about the fact that they were on the way to the meeting. Oh by the way, the authorities at that time, if I recall correctly, told everybody in that area to STAY OFF THE STREETS because this guy was on the loose. This couple figured that attending the meeting was more important. It's sad that this happened but it maybe could've been avoided if they'd just listened to the news. (Something about heeding the warning is usually put in Awake! magazines too, you know...)
Also, yeah, it's kind of surprising that the other JW would go into several stores and just not alert anyone; I mean, I would've chosen the longest line possible and then asked for a price check once I got to the front...nah, I understand that the guy was probably scared. That can't necessarily be blamed on the lack of advice from Awake!, can it?
But the fact that the woman died because of not getting blood--that really sucks. So it was a double JW-whammy there--she died because she was heading to the meeting (when she should've stayed home) and then died for sure because of refusing blood. Except that there's also the homicidal maniac that comes into play there...without whom she would have lived. So...obviously it's a mixture of variables, and we don't know for sure that she would've survived had she received blood, but we do know she would have if she'd listened to the authorities and stayed home.
It brings back a sad memory there...it was a scary time in the area, and I guess it got worse since 9/11 and the sniper attacks came in the years after that, so...sucks to live in this area...
