Does anyone have any personal experiences as to the effects that the 1975 end of the World announcement had on them??
For starters..i was a 7 years old little girl in 1972 when they were starting to announce it...i remember my dad buying 5 foot long cheese (we are italian)...about 100 salami's...because they said we would first suffer with the starvation and all that and needed to be prepared for it.....also i remember every thunderstorm my mom would run to the window and yell..."Maybe this is it..maybe this is the end of the world starting!!"...and one day i literally got so scared that i locked myself in the cellar and shit my little pants. My parents ended up selling their house..like so many did...only that they sold it to this JW who was a real estate agent who re-sold it within 2 months double the fricken price!! He was obviously conning the JW's and knew they were all panicking now and would sell for nothing. We ended up moving in this apartment..cause my dad said we no longer needed money or the house and that God was going to have something better in store for us..(at that point i didnt care..i wanted to LIVE and wondered why i was born to go through this!!).but first we had to go through armagheddon blah blah blah..i will never forget the fear, the insecurity, the darkness and sense of doom i felt at such an early age....it is a feeling that i still get at times when things dont go right in my life...but it is also something that has taught me the importance of teaching our children the beauty of life....to appreciate what we have...and to just get down in the dirt and have fun with my two little girls no matter what...i make sure they love life and are happy with it and also that they learn to deal with the shit and get over it....and also I make sure they know that God is a God of Love..not evil..not manipulative or blackmailing...that God is there for us no matter if we are good or bad...
Anyone else been traumatized by the JW's Armagheddon announcements??
Please Share...it helps to heal.
Peace to ya all..
hugs..

Wow ! Isn't that awful ?
Frighten small kids like that...
And what about the crook who bought and resold your house ?
And what about your parents ? How did they react and recover when they finally realized that the END wasn't coming after all ?

1975 was the biggest blunder in JW history. It caused many good folks to leave the organization. Our family came into the truth in 1974, but we were not affected by the expectations, I think my parents were very realistic and knew what the Bible said about not knowing the date nor the hour. Unfortunately that was not the case with many. I believe this was a tactic of Satan and many bit into it, even brother Franz. It really made the organization look bad, but Jehovah let it happen for a reason. I don't know the reason, but have my own conclusions.

Oh forgot to add the outcome...when Armagheddon obviously never occured..they said that it was Satan Testing our Stregth and Faith...
You know..what pisses me off about the JW's..its not when the adults decide to go into this cult..its when the adults go into the cult and bring along innocent children and then traumatize and disrupt their whole lives. It is so damn sad...
I consider myself damn lucky to have come out as sane as i have..(or have i ??)...but i have had to work at it and also i think it is in my personality to not get influenced by other people...i left when i was 14 regardless of wether my parents liked it or not...a matter of fact i was so strong willed that i had my parents leave with me!!..but they felt so abandoned by their family and friends that they went back in...however..to this day..they still say that the JW's suck big time and are a bunch of hippocrits and that they are only in their for family and friends and because after all they are both in their 70's.....sad huh...? even sadder that they are also being hippocrits by staying..but what can i say..they are pretty cool considering they are still in and i have also showed my mom this sight and she totally loves it.
Peace guys..hang in there..it does get better!!

MavMan..what are you talking about your parents were not affected because they knew about the bible saying nobody knew the date or the hour..?? I know that..but regardless of that, it was something that affected every JW. What do you mean Satan's tactic? And whats this about Jehovah had a reason for it?? You sound totally brainwashed and in need to be de-programmed!! That 1975 blunder screwed up lives..homes...cities...financially..morally...emotionally...and all you have to say is...Jehovah had a reason for it??? Get real...by the way..i dont call my dad by his first name...Frank!!..so why are you calling our allmighty father JEHOVAH (which is not even the proper greek translation by the way!) and disrespecting him?
I think Lord or Father would show more respect for our beloved God..thank you!

"I believe this was a tactic of Satan and many bit into it, even brother Franz. "

Finally someone admits that, that is where the WT gets its "channeled" info.

What an awful way to grow up. It's very scary for a kid to see their parents afraid. Sounds like you were lucky and GREW up, many do not.

I'll bet the same happened in 1914 and 1925 which makes the "older" men products of the same upbringing, even worse, that older lit is much more graphic, fear inspiring. Bet they feel better now that they are the "disher outers" and not the "taker inners".

Mav,

As bugs bunny often says, "What a maroon, you are." You say that 1975 was the biggest blunder? Well, it was a more recent one. How about the blunders of 1874, 1878, 1914, 1918, and 1925. You should read your own literature.

Now, regarding Satan. Is he the one who inspired the Watchtower writers back in the 70's?

Why Jehovah *let* it happen.?!? People don't read the Word of God. A small child can figure out from this passage that man is not to set dates for the 'end'.

(Luke 21)

7"Teacher," they asked, "when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?"
8 He replied: "Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not follow them.

Did you catch that last part? Not only do the JW's claim to come in His name, but the last part of the verse says that these types will say the end is near Then it says 'Do not follow them'. People need to read the Bible instead of JW literature and it will clear things up considerably. Imagine if Rags parents had done this, it would have saved him/them a lot of grief!

So MavYoyo, Jehovah's spirit-led organization was a pawn of "Satan's tactic"?

AT LAST, you have bundered your way to the truth!

NOT ONE prediction ever uttered by a representive of the WTS has ever come true.
