Many of those DO's and C.O's and their wives spent most of their lives in working for the Org. When they reached retirement, the Org. left them entirely to the "tender mercies" of the Congregation they ended up in.

I don't know if that has improved over the last decade or so ?

I expect a good number that I knew in my decades in have died, and a number more are not far off. A huge number of sad , wasted lives we are mentioning on this Thread.

I was reading the obituary for Mike Seidler. I remember seeing him on occasion many years ago. Absolute gentleman. His wife Dodie was a dragon however. She was blunt and arrogant. Many people hated Dodie but loved Mike more. Seeing the comment section on the obituary made me realise how well loved some of the "best" men were. Didn't realise he moved back to England. It almost frightened me to see the JW smile on that evil face of Dodie!

Reading this thread i keep seeing the name Alan Scott--i'm pretty sure he was the young overseer / special pio at the first cong i attended as a child---Hockley in Birmingham UK--about 1960.

He and another--Peter Hemming--went as missionary to north africa i think.

Peter Hemming? Was he the guy who ran a dental laboratory in Northampton?

Is Andrew Smith still on the circuit?

Is Andrew Smith still on the circuit?

Was he short and chubby? Quite friendly for a CO? If so, he reminded me of a hamster - small and round with no neck! Seemed decent enough, although I didn't really have any dealings with him.

Last I heard, he was on a foreign language circuit somewhere in London. Arabic I think? But that was just before COVID so he'd be somewhere else by now I reckon.

Not the Andrew Smith I'm thinking of then, thanks for the reply though.

This one was tall, slim and had grey hair although he was only late 20s.

He was one of the first brand new elders straight out of MTS 30 years ago and was sent to Edinburgh.

    He'd be nearly 60 now.

Someone told me he went on the circuit evetually but perhaps he didnt. I saw his name on one of the lists of COs and DOs and thought it might be him. I was in the Edinburgh congregation he was sent to back then and just wondered where he'd ended up.
