If god is made in man’s image then he would want to have a partner and children. As sons and daughters of god they to would be gods. If we are going to believe in the concept of god, then it makes sense to have numerous gods.
The Greeks and Romans had it right; hundreds of gods and goddesses each with its own characteristics. Nice gods, bad gods, amorous gods fond of ambrosia, and destructive gods. This way one god does not have to take the blame for bad things while claming to be good. The gods can pass the buck between themselves.

God is Spirit, asexual, methophers are used as the source of life for human understanding "Father" . The the methopher of "feminity" is attributed to the Source's exact representation, personification of Wisdom and Truth aka The Word, Jesus Christ....the Source external to creation is able to reconcile ALL things to "HIMSELF" in Christ, the preeminence of creation. Hence creation would NOT exist without the unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

There is only one Sun and there is only one Moon ( a newly born God )
The myriad of stars in the sky are gods angles who were created by God for God.
Humanity's conscious awareness of the world in which we live in created many diverse imaginative expressions of gods
to explain and give answers to the what we see and experience in the world.

Return - mormonism has a foundational concept that god is a glorified man who went through a similar mortal experience to us. The ultimate aim of mormon thinking is to prepare us to become our own gods. God is a title not a sole being, a title applicable to all those who have proven themselves worthy of becoming as god. To be a god one must be married as the cycle starts again, prepare world, populate it with children, be god of that world etc. There is no proof of multiple or single gods.
