At our last CA we baptised a 10 yr old.

WTF?! It's called scraping the bottom of the barrel in the name of bumping up the baptism figures.

There was some media converage (from which I derived the information that follows). (Someone who knows how to copy links may be able to provide the relevant media links?)

I find it incomprhensible that they would still have the baptismal talk when they know their are no baptismal candidates for immersion ? What kind of lunacy is that ? Surely it would make more sense to shelve that part of the program and substitute it with something else . All they have done is drawn attention to a ludicrous situation . On second thoughts that may not be a bad thing.

    Yes! I totally 110% agree.

    Longer lunch break.

I remember being bored spitless as the baptism dragged on as they slowly dunked the born ins. It was torture. We had to wait til the WBT$ 'baptismal' info-mercial had ended and then wait longer as the born-ins went to the changing rooms and got into their white tee shirted Victorian style bathing costumes.

Bloody hell, they wore more clobber getting dunked than they did in the street.

    Not that I care anymore.

Oh, and BTW. One of my sons admitted he only got dunked to please his parents. I feel such a failure as a parent for bringing them up in such a dangerous and disgusting cult.

Now just let me loose with the GB and a sharpened pencil. Those feckers will wish hell exists to escape me!

"there wasn't one candidate for baptism."

Did they bother doing the 2 questions to the non-existant candidates? That would seem even more absurd if so.

I can certainly see this happening at our circuit assembly sometime in the future.

Around 3,000 coming to New Zealand from other countries so they can waste three days sitting at a Grand Boasting Session. To me, that is the ultimate of idiocy. If I was going to New Zealand, I could think of plenty of other things I would rather be doing than sitting at one of those wastefests for 3 days. Whether it be exploring the many fine shops in Auckland, going out to Rotorua to see the many fine sights there, or a detour to the Tauranga and Te Puke area to watch the fine fruits being grown, there is so much to do within a few kilometers of this wastefest. And that's just within the north half of the North Island.

Good thing I don't have to waste my time attending those wastefests. It is a shame that 3,000 people chose to be idiots once they decided to visit such a fine country by sitting in one of the a$$emblies. Nice to see baptisms dropping off--and I hope the numbers drop off even lower. What is propping up the numbers are families where children are forced to get baptized at young ages by devout parents. Hopefully a good number of those will leave. The ones that don't are the ones that are being prepped so they cannot function outside the organization, and this is as true in the United Tyranny of Stupidity as in New Zealand. I can only hope they are so poor that they cannot donate enough to keep the organization afloat or get themselves in debt trying.

And, let's not forget the getting younger ones baptized to inflate the numbers. Not only are they getting baptized too young, but they are being expected to go against nature without understanding what they are getting themselves into. 10 years old? I have seen that happen, and I have heard the rags boasting about children getting baptized at age 6. As if there is no excuse for your children reaching their 7th birthday without getting baptized. They do that by scaring them into thinking they will soon be destroyed otherwise, and their parents will not be able to save them much longer. I wonder if they are going to start baptizing people even younger than 6 and boasting about that.
