Very nice! Do you sell them? What kind of steel did you use?

Thanks EP. I sell a few here and there. I use 1095 and 5160 carbon steel. They are very simple to heat treat compared to stainless and tool steels. I'll eventually get the equipment to HT stainless and tool steel but for now stick with these.

The blade with the scalloped spine and the dark wood handles and the leather thong is 5160, the rest are 1095. The 5160 is a spring steel (it's what most auto leaf springs are/were made of. It polishes out finer than the 1095 and doesn't appear to harden quite as much (lower carbon content)

I also have used old high carbon railroad spikes and worn files. The files are W-1 or -2 tool steel and is chemically similar to 1095.

I also do all the leatherwork.

This has proven to be a fun and fulfilling hobby.

I prefer the higher carbon content and am always on the lookout for a new knife, if you know what I mean. I mean PM me :)
