So, I'm sitting in a bar, having a drink. The bar participates in TapTV, an online trivia thing. The question that came up was, "What did Jehovah's Witnesses call themselves before 1931". The possible answers where:

    • Scavengers
    • Witnesses
    • Russelites
    • Latter Day Saints

Of course, the correct answer was Russelites, but you and I know the REAL answer was "Bible Students", but that wasn't an option.

The bartender, a female who I've come to know and appreciate, blurted out, "Scavengers". This led to a lengthy conversation, including me revealing my background. I told her that she'd eventually find out, but this wasn't the way I envisioned.

I won't go into all the details, because some is not relevant, but I did ask her why she said "Scavengers". She said "because every time they come to my door, they're like sales people.'

Folks, need I say any more???

The history and methods of WT are rooted in salesmanship.

    I've never been a Witness.

Every person in the real world that I know of view JW's as sales people.

Most realize they're a cult, however, they don't realize how deep it goes and how dark it is.

What is hilarious is that internally they spout off about "not giving a bad Witness" and "not giving Jehovah a bad name" and all the while 90% of the world looks at them as vultures and door to door salesman. Sometimes people just can't see the image in the mirror for what it is.

I believe they called themselves Russellites either before they called themselves Bible Students, or maybe at the same time. When they started to splinter into sects after Russell died, one group continued to call themselves Russellites. But according to them, they were the REAL chosen ones!

But you will never find this information in the Proclaimers book! They would have to admit that they follow man.

I blame their connections to Coca Cola.

    See : http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/158919/rutherford-wm-heath-sr-coca-cola?page=1

The 1930's Rutherford slogan, "Advertise, Advertise, Advertise, the King and His Kingdom," sounds as though it could be right out of a Coca Cola sales manual.

Getting involved with Amway was my first cult experience, in my early 20s. It was just like a religion, with shunning when you wanted out. Tupperware was similar, except for the fact that a lot of people like the products. So i think the KH sales meetings had a familiarity about them, to me.

If you went in service in third world countries in the time of the "contribution" really sale price, it was as if a swarm of locusts had descended on the hapless villagers, they gave their last peso for the papers, and the "publishers could not afford to give them away either, they had paid their food money to get them at the counter. counting their food money. Should not have said that, the locusts of Revelation might not be the witnesses after all, although they fit the type.
