If you are a newbie, what was it that started you posting here?
Was it the "new light" on the "faithful and discreet slave" or something else?

The missing [...] in the Reasoning book under the subheading 'Cross' I got that page from the Imperial Bible Dictionary and realized that the book the WTS was quoting from was misquoted and that they were actually PRO cross! I was shocked that if they could lie about that, what else have they lied about?

Not quite a newbie anymore. . .
but it was the "new light" on the "generation" in the summer of 2010 that snapped me out of it.
Specifically, it was watching two humble, honesthearted sisters try to explain/reconcile the new generation teaching. I clearly remember one of them saying "There are going to be a lot of people unhappy with this [new teaching]." The other sister then kind of just stared blankly into space.
NEWLYENLIGHTENED - yeah, being born-in, I never really got the deal with the cross. . . Who cares? Then seeing how much of that info in the RS book and the pubs is out of context - what other information are they withholding/misrepresenting?

NE, good catch. The WT often misquotes, or ignores context. I remember thinking the 1st time I saw an outright misquote, "If they have the truth, why lie?"

1, Seeing no love and being treated like shit. Treated good when you do something like pioneer and work at the bethel that will make your elders look good. Favortisim and hypocracy and too much label licking.
2. This site. False watchtower quotes, lies, doctrinal changes, follow the fds and not Jesus. Too much guilt and fear. NO MEDIATOR, Didn't make sense and it's all about WT and the fds.
3. We're not alone and that it's not us. Others are experienceing the same things.
5. Fake friends. Only friends when they needed shower and wedding gifts, hall maintenance, clean hall, RBC, Bethel ect you get my drift.

7. It's all whackadoodle noodleheads just fresh out of the boogyhatch that come into this nonsense. That should tell ya something right there and then their given labels and determine your fate weather you get df'd and lose your family
8.Conventions were a killer for sure. Near the end, lunchtime was all we could stomach.

I use some of the knowledge that I learn here in my ministry with JW's. The discussions are very illuminating, particularly in understanding different perspectives on the same topic.

I came here due to an older sibling that had begun to "study again" (even tho they were a born- in baptized dfed in the 80's like myself) I kinda knew the history, Russell, Franz etc......but thought I would give the wts the benefit of the doubt. I Started with the NWT and the rest was history. I have no idea why I started there but it seemed a good place to start. I started with their credibility and translation of the NWT and it was like a snowball effect. Then came across the UN scandal....I never saw that coming! lol I have been out for 28 years but that indoctrination NEVER goes away! I was scared to come here at first so lurked quite awhile! What I thought was going to be a JW BASHING turned out to be quite the opposite. I came here and GLAD I did, this is a great place to come and has helped me alot.
