that is stupid they had her convinced to go out publically when if she were in nazi germany would done things in secret . I agree she should have put her childre first and been more cautious as the scripture say , cautious as serpents and innocent as doves . I for one don't think women need go do anything in the public preaching work .

When you're told that the only way to please God and earn salvation is by doing works specifically door to door witnessing, you may fall for it.
That happened to Nancy Yuen. What evil demonstration of double standards! The missionaries stopped going door to door but instead sent the local Chinese.
Of course the GB has capitalized on this "presecution" and has hailed her as a hero and further "proof" that the world and Satan is against the Watchtower and it's members.
Raymond Franz mentiones her in one of his books and explains how to GB has convinced the rank and file that going door to door is a means to gain salvation instead of faith in Christ.
If door to door is the only way to do God's will and recruit members then how did the more than billion Catholics become Catholics? Same question for any religion really.

Nancy was a true believer. Her younger family are also true believers. o they are very happy with her sacrifice. I have met and know some of them.
Nancy made a personal decision, and it was hers to make.
She is dead now, and I try not to consider the motives of dead old ladies. She was truely a JW martyr.

My respects to the departed Ms Yuen.
I wonder what her reaction would have been had she learned of the protection of paedophiles policy of the wts?

She reminds me of 'the duke's sex slave in doonsbury. The duke is the wt corp. She is kind of a hopelessly devoted female doofus, never wavering in her devotion to her master.

In hindsight , which is easy for me to say ,she did what many of us would have done when we were firm beleivers , whether their were other motives that came into it ,like being an example for others to follow ,or maybe she could see herself as an example in some future scriptures ,we will never know. But she did it because she firmly beleived Jehovah`s Witnesses had the truth .
Had she had the opportunity to peruse the knowledge we have at our disposal via the internet ,I wonder if she would have made the same decision.

Seems that by 1956 the ban on H to H preaching was total
WT 79 7/15
The way that she puts it in the first person, I rather than "we", makes me wonder if she was a stubborn coot who openly defied the ban and brought it all on her."The Communist officials were exasperated by my firm determination to keep on preaching. During one of the interrogation sessions, I was told that I must be the most stubborn person in the whole of China. Finally, in the latter part of 1956, after being arrested six times for preaching, I was again detained when a householder notified the authorities that I was preaching from house to house. After that I was not released."

Chinese can be like that - there is a long tradition of the scholar-minister in the Imperial court who stood up for what he thought was right and suffers for it.
