It's been a terrible economy these last few years. I had a very successful loan brokerage and watched that crash and burn in 2011. I went back to my previous firm in the computer industry that was struggling after I left. It seemed like a good match. They needed my sales skills, and they provided a place of employment in an industry I was well familiar with. (Laptop Repairs). I was so confident with my returning I invested as a full partner.
Well the honeymoon lasted about 6 months and then trouble began. Behind the scenes, our largets client started making job offers to my biz partners. Honesty, they likley would have accepted but I was in the way. So rather than putting it on the table, they just dragged their feet on every project, guarenteeing it's failure or at best, modest success.
After a year and a half of this, I had enough and put it on the table. They did the same. So my cure was I requested my funds back that I deposited and would resign. They agreed and are paying me back over 12 months with a healthy down payment.
It's now 2 years later, and I'm thinking: "I'm 49 and what they hell?" Do I look for work? Go to school? I wish I could get paid for making snarky comments, that seems to be a skill I have.
