  The date range is too long, imo. Moore's Law exponentially evolved medical technology from 1966 to 2012. Therefore it would be unreasonable to apply the 10-18% figure to a person needing a transfusion today. I would suspect that the further back one's transfusion the more likely it increases chance of heart attack. Technology continues to grow, but silicon has its limits as governed by the laws of thermodynamics. Quantum computing caluclates on the atomic/subatomic level which will kick Moores Law back into full stride. The quicker we get our quantum computers up the better for everybody involved.

  There are some medical emergencies and conditions that, without a blood transfusion, mean certain death. This study suggests that cardiac arrest may not be one of them.

  Reverence and protection of life trumps all.

  That was wrong; and so is the stance against blood transfusions.

  Where do I start?

  You first have to realize that there is NO SUCH THING as a "JW understanding of the Scriptures in this regard"... In fact, most JWs just blindly follow whatever illogical Bible text "interpretations" come from Brooklyn... plain and simple.

  And when it comes to "abstaining from blood", these Brooklyn whack jobs have clearly over-interpreted certain Bible texts and now find themselves back-peddling because of they've "gone beyond what is written" to the point of causing unnecessary deaths (not to mention financially burdensome litigation).

  That being said, I think MOST people (JW or not) prefer NOT to have transfusions... except most people wouldn't risk the lives of their loved ones over some arbitrary Bible interpretation by people that haven't even met in person...

  So nothing. I am not attempting to prove anything. As I made clear, this is quite irrelevant to whether or not a blood transfusion is scripturally justified. But I believe it to be of interest and the number of views and responses seems to justify that.

  I wonder do the WT understand the medical reason

  for using blood transfusion. It,s simple ,why is it essential

  to use transfusion in LIfe- Threatening medical problems.

  Plasma is yellowish: watery liquid that holds red blood cells,

  white blood cells, and platelets.

  Red blood cells: pick up oxygen in your lungs and then move to

  your heart so that oxygen is pumped all over your body.

  White blood cells: fight off germs that could make your body sick.

  Platelets: are cells that make your cuts stop bleeding. They stick

  togather and plug up the cut blood vessel so that no more blood

  will flow out.

  Didn,t we learn this in the 9th grade.

  It,s a stupid rule, causing the death of many.
