Well before I read a bible well through, I had read all of Grimm's Fairy Tales, the collection of Hans Christian Andersen, and Aesop's Fables too. You can't tell me that these aren't just as bloody.
A child's mind, maybe better than some adults, can accommodate fantasy alongside reality. In fantasy, a child can test heroism, conquer monsters, scale great heights.
I blame the religious literalists of our age, alongside some athiests, for taking the magic out.

Yes, I understand that.
It is very hard for Us to reconcile a loving God that has the power to protect the innocent and doesn't.
You won't get an argument from me as to how hard that is for Us to do.
