Where do you live? Some Obama care provisions have started in some states. California has the PCIP program. Basicly pay $450 wait 15 days you.. now have full coverage. Make sure Hospital agrees to assignment. Get 100K of surgery for $450.oo not a bad deal.

It depends on the state and the homestead laws. It will probably just ruin her credit.

Call social services, also check with the social workers at the local hospitals. If she is in fact elderly, medicare should cover most of it.

Don,t know if she will have a problem with the social worker.
For years the ex and her husband have been living off our
divorce settlement (real estate). Her home is located in
a beach area here in California. Like so many JW,s they lived
large ( they will never grow old). I would think the programs
they have for people(PCIP) are for people that meet a certain criteria.
You driving a brand new Cadillac and a home near the beach.
She may have a difficult time getting some kind of aid.
