I managed to show at the memorial. The PO talked about how privileged we were to be there and celebrate the occasion then shortly there after reminded us that we were only there to observe unless you had the heavenly calling so there wasn't a whole lot of celebrating going on.The scriptures they keep quoting about a great crowd only observing don't exist.I have never been a jw but can see the controversy over the matter ,I wound up leaving just as the started passing the emblems around cause I believe you don't hand food and drink to someone under those conditions ,it's ludicrous.

Memorial talk outlines are basically the same, if you follow the outline it is boring as hell. If the speaker uses a little creativity then they can be entertaining to say the least. Rember the story of the train killing a father's son? A very moving story that has been used at memorials to make the program more real. While some brothers try to breath life into the talk others just read it off and watch the audience die a slow death. To think this is the biggest holiday for all JWs and such a loser way to celebrate it.

I also missed the Memorial. Had planned to attend and have a cracker and a shot of wine. Unfortunately the CEO of my company died of a sudden heartattack and his memorial service was tonight at the same time the dubs were having their black mass.

Will try to attend the JW Memorial next year.

I smashed some crackers with my thumb and put my hands all over the top part of the wine glass.

I gave one once. It was not my best talk, I was a bit nervous , the occassion of it all and I had had to spend the build up time talking to attendants, arranging car parks etc . I did try and put something into it . I tried to emhasise the MEANING, rather than the actual record of what happened and the dire warning of taking an emblem, that seems to take up most of the outline.

That was in the early 1990's , I dont know if it has been updated since then.

    josephus,

    : i went to the memorial Mar 28, 2002 19:08

: we then went to the pub, and go drunk

What do you think happened to those elders who had possession of that wine that NO one drank at that memorial?

I know what happened to that wine and those Elders. I'm no dummy!

I agree with David. Why go to mock? children sitting in the congregation will be told" they are Satan tools" My prayer is that those attending can see the LOVE of God in our ways.
Sorry to sound judgemental- but I was thinking of my family still in- seeing such behaviour.

Josephus, I have to agree with those who just don't understand why you went. Laughing and talking through the Memorial talk certainly does nothing to encourage those still "in" to want to examine their beliefs. All it does is prove to them that those who have left are not worthy of their consideration.

I agree, but what it shows is that once again so many former jw have failed to educate themselves on High Control groups

the elders, ms and publishers who were at that meeting represent the lowest on the WT food chain. they are just as blind as he was a few yrs ago,

not realizing that sitting in that audience was perhaps someone who wants to leave and to see him and his buddies offer this as his new life style, he would perfer to stay in wt

It is so sad to see so many former jw like this guy volunteer to be the WT Poster Child for why you should stay in the org

    so sad

i thought it was revealing that after he left he went and got Drunk

real intelligent person i would add

Jeez, give the guy a break people! He went, he had fun. So some people still in got frightened. So what? So maybe he was a just a little disrespectful, its not exactly like you get loads and loads of respect from the JW's. Besides, JW's are going to think evil things about former JW's anyways. Why not have a little fun in being able to live up to the evil image already given to you?

Back down the bullies to the back of the bus
Its time for them to be scared of us
