Did anyone see Oprah's show today? It was awesome!!! All about the Catholic Church and pedophiles. I swear it was the same content as the upcoming Dateline show about JW's. Really great program today.

A side bar.........a friend of mine, was at the book study this week, and a brother commented about the scandal in the Catholic Church. He said it's so wonderful to know that it will never "happen to us". She almost choked!!

Mulan the sad part is when the story hits, 99.9% of witnesses will just brush it off as satan's doings or apostate lies. It just won't have an effect on the rank and file.

My hope is it will have a super effect on those studying or considering studying.

And the funny thing about it...when it's the WTBTS turn to be put on the cooker, the Sister & Brother Rankenfile will suck up all the "we are being persecuted!" blah blah, from the Governing Body.

I was able to view the program and noted a fried David Clossey was featured. David is very familiar with the JW problem as I have spoken with him on several occasions. He is behind the silentlambs issue 100% and seems to be a respected voice on child molestation matters. Hopefully he will help more attention to be brought to the JW problem. Can you picture the day when JWs are featured on Oprah?

unfortunately all true statements....I mailed 45 PAGES of silentlamb testimonials to an out of state relative only to have her write back claiming that they were all ONE-SIDED...Perhaps if the police would've been contacted the POOR PEDOPHILES would have got to give their sides huh? It gets disheartening to even TRY to communicate with those that don't search for the truth themselves.....I agree though, if the secret gets exposed and it protects one child from abuse it will be worth all the frustration...BARBARA ANDERSON IS A GUTSY BROAD!!!!!!!!!at least some "sisters" have what it takes to stand up to that hypocritical organization......

Yes,
I hardly ever watch t.v. but today when my son asked me to turn on the VCR, I noticed Oprahs topic. I had to tune in, since my husband is Catholic, it was a sensitive subject.
I cant believe that priests were just transferred to different parishes, even though they were known child molesters. My husband mentioned somthing to me when we were dating that I never gave much thought until later. I used to ask him about confession etc. since I knew nothing about the Church. One time he mentioned how the priest asked him, during confession, when he was about 10 years old, "Do you masturbate or touch yourself?". Of course he lied and told him "no".
Im wondering now, seeing how innapropriate the question was, if he would have said yes, would the priest have taken it further?
Normally at his church, they have confession and there is a screen between the priest and the person confessing but in this case, he said it was face to face and he was very uncomfortable.
He doesnt remember the who the priest was because it was so long ago.
His church does switch priests very frequently.

Im a little worried that the J.W. Dateline segment wont get the proper attention since this story is so large right now. Then again, it may actually be good if dateline does the J.W. story soon, while people are still angry over the Catholic scandal.
I think anytime children are affected, people tend to act more quickly.

On this type of disc board, the post are in numerical order. It's interesting, the subject of jws SEEMS to really pale in comparison to the Catholic church here. Perhaps only because it's major headline news now. Maybe once Dateline airs, it willbe confronted and more will be interviewed for shows like Oprah. I don't know. I'm feeling so helpless and hopeless about this right now; (nothing personal)... I'm sure it will pass. My post to Oprah's forum is here, ...with a juicy reply:

I hear you.
It's so frustrating to see the Catholics plasterd all over the news when we have spent the last year tring to expose the JW's for the same thing!

I am especially irritated about it right now because my mom called a couple of days ago and hatefully said that the fact that the Catholics are in the news and the JWs aren't "prooves that we have nothing on them!"

I told her not to talk so fast or be so sure of herself.
I also corrected her and said that the JWs have been in the news and on the radio many times over this very thing ,it just hasn't hit National news yet.

She wanted to know why?
I said "because the JWs are very insignificant in the World view compared to the Catholic church.

She yelled "that is not true"!!!!!

All this makes me very tired!!

If he is able to get on Oprah and Oprah has a long history of being an advicate for victims of abuse why the hell doesn't she have it on her show?? I don't get it. What are they waiting for???

LB, it's my understanding it's the protection of children and the compensation for those taken advantage of within a 'closed' social society that is important.

Whether current Jehovah's Witnesses agree or disagree with the WTBTS' current policies of Corporate protectionism is beside the point.
