Welcome Julia Orwell, Is your husband a "Spiritually Strong" (blindly follows the WTBTS) JW? Was your husband born into the WTBTS and/or are most of his friends and family JWs? Your biggest challenge may be to help your husband to meet new non-JW friends so that both of you will have friends after you (and hopefully both of you together) fade.
DITTO what jgnat wrote about become familar with Steve Hassan's methods. Steve Hassan wrote "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"). I was amazed how well Steve Hassan can describe how JWs behave and his methods for helping people to think again for themselves. Steve Hassan was a Moonie and never a JW.
Best of wishes for you and your husband successfully fading from the WTBTS together and communicating with each other lovingly and openly. Be gentle and go slow with your husband. Both of you will face new challenges as you leave the WTBTS. LittleMac wrote about the challenges he faced with his wife and him growing apart after leaving the WTBTS in his thread We're both out 2 years now- crossroads.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,
Robert
