Interesting stuff. Is the book compatable w the idea that, what we view as the first life forms were excreted by the earth, coming out somewhere near those vents? I am wondering if their research leaves it open for something like that to have happened.

Life Ascending is a really good book to read. The chapter on the deep sea vents and how DNA might have evolved there is amazing. I had to read it over too, to really wrap my mind around it.

Thanks for the Khan Academy link. Going there next.
