The talk claimed in this letter sounds over the top, and would be very irresponsible action by WTS legal department to put themselves and their client in. I've been a skeptic of his for some time, and this letter doesn't alleviate any of my doubts.
So, your argument is that an extraordinary claim has been made and you are demanding evidence of the same standard. That's not an unreasonable request, but you fail to see that in the context of the Watchtower the claim is not all that extraordinary. The Watchtower has been in a free fall since their 1975 false prophecy. Their "this generation" false prophecy got them until 1995, but they suffered a fatal blow during that period. In 1989 successful litigation forced them to stop charging outright for their product. This sealed their fiscal doom, but they had a few aces up their sleeves before their ship would fully go down. They were able to extract the money for their products directly from their volunteer salespeople through a carefully executed system of mind control. This system, however, was swiftly thwarted by the Age of Information. When factoring in the Watchtower's past Unthank's story gains sizable credibility. They are a band of thieves and after being exposed they're taking on final resorts. They are acting like the petty thieves they always have been. There is nothing extraordinary about it, in fact it's expected.
Thank you Barbara for posting this letter.
