Painfully reading an article of May 15, 2015 (extra-simplified edition) and again observed this phraseology: The Bible does not say, but ...

So, did Satan hope to tempt her with the luxurious palaces of Pharaoh and Abimelech? Did Satan think that she would betray her husband and even Jehovah by marrying one of those kings? The Bible does not say, but it is very likely that the Devil would have been overjoyed if Sarah had lost the opportunity to become part of the Messiah’s family line.

I remember this years ago - The Bible does not say, but.

Any psyche-type people want to comment?

When they say the "Bible does not say but" they're really saying "we have no Biblical proof for this and we just pulled it out of our butt" and since it's been approved by the GB then all Witnesses must believe it as the Truth(R) or else.

One of my MAJOR complaints with the WTBTS leadership is that you must accept their "ideas" to be "holy."

There is an 80s letter to the Elders that says a JW must believe all of the GB's teachings, otherwise it's "apostasy" against God. The bible doesn't say that, but.....

"Hypothetically" & "by extension" the Writing Committee gods at Brooklyn/Patterson can & do write any drivel which comes into their minds, and present it as a "scriptural possibility", but if the average "mature Witness" began speaking such things, Elders Napoleon & Stalin would pounce on them for potential apostasy!

Remember, it's all about information & mind control.

That's why the G.B. forbids J.W.'s from discussing their own doctrines together!!!

km 9/07 p. 3 Question Box Does "the faithful and discreet slave" endorse independent groups of Witnesses who meet together to engage in Scriptural research or debate?—Matt. 24:45, 47.

"No, it does not. And yet, in various parts of the world, a few associates of our organization have formed groups to do independent research on Bible-related subjects. Some have pursued an independent group study of Biblical Hebrew and Greek so as to analyze the accuracy of the New World Translation. Others explore scientific subjects related to the Bible."

I wonder why the Org's online libraries' KM's only go back to 2010? Pity!!

It's an invitation to speculate, but only in the direction which best fits the point a piece is trying to make, which also seems to serve the purpose of pulling the reader away from a bit of critical thinking over the substance of what is being said.

eg what the Bible does say is that it was Abraham's idea on both occasions to pretend she was his sister and both Pharoah and Abimilech were more than happy to send her on her way once they found out Abraham had been lying. What has Satan do with this in the first place?

True dat!! All of that trouble came from Abraham lying, probably because of "fear of man." So was he just the "biological Father" of all those having faith?

    Hey Searcher,

How dare anyone question the accuracy of the now defunct NWT? How dare anyone read Hebrew and Greek without the GBs permission?!?!

wt loves to put up bible dramas. mind games with fictional characters. One question about this story is, why would these early orientals have such respect for marriage, but have no compunction to commit murder? to get at the prized lady legally?

They like to pretend they have "insider" information.

Well, now we know they don't and never did.

Pure simple loaded language. On paper it gives them an out for making any kind of claim. But they know in the fragile, hope hungry, persecution complex mind of the followers of watchtower that call themselves sheep, even with the qualifier that gives the watchtower an out, in their mind it amounts to this us exactly what happened. They take it in their heart and mind to be FACT. I hate this stuff.

I have known even se devout witnesses to proclaim that the "society" makes an awful lot of conjectures that they have no way of knowing. But on the other hand people like my mom who read between every line to predict how and when Armageddon will start, they eat it up.
