Hey! If you are reading the 1 Corinthians....go to chapter 7. Have a look at how Paul tells the people in the congregation not to get married and raise a family.....becasue the and o the world was so near. It is still the same bullshit as it was some 1950 years ago.

Why do these scriptures scare you?

Being associated with a false religious organization such as Jehovah's Witnesses isn't going to earn your salvation.

Why would god save people who supported false prophecy? That doesn't make any sense.

2 Pet 3:3, 4: "For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4?and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.”

This one always makes me laugh, because the ridiculers with their ridicule have been the ones telling the truth for the last 2000 years.

If I was ever to start my own religion, Chapter one, verse one of the first book would be something like "The words contained herein are true, for reals, but some people won't believe it and will laugh at those who do"

Bang, I'm a true prophet in the first sentence!

    1. According to the Bible, the "narrow gate" is Jesus himself, not an organization headquartered in New York or anywhere else. See John 5:39-40; 10:7-9; 14:6.

    2. The fact that the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect shows that the WTS is a false prophet. They have, in Jehovah's name, announced many dates which have all come to nothing. By Deuteronomy 18, that makes them false prophets.

    3. The fact that many ridicule the idea that Jesus is coming back doesn't mean that the WTS is "God's organization." Many denominations and churches also teach that Jesus is coming back. Unlike the WTS, however, most of them haven't claimed inside knowledge as to when and they haven't predicted a number of false dates for it.... nor have they said that Jesus returned invisibly in 1874, changed it to 1914, and say that he is still coming back in the future.

That's right, What happened.....don't take any doomsday prophecy for real Paul and Peter were false prophets that made people in their time expect Jesus returning, giving up their lives waiting for it. Thay were as good nutheads as the J-dubs are in our time.

Does anyone else have a fear of leaving because of these scriptures? I do. I wish I didn't, but I do.

Despite their claims, there is no proof or any way to prove conclusively that being one of Jehovah's Witnesses puts one in compliance with these scriptures. JW's are "captive" to the notion that they are the only ones who are on the "narrow road" or are prepared enough for "the end". They believe they are being "ridiculed" as it says in 2 Peter, when anyone simply disagrees with them or points out the many incorrect dates they've held out as significant. Or when anyone is able to provide proof of their having made false prophecies or having covered up their own past wrongdoing. Despite the scriptures admonition not to judge others, they have virtually condemned, via their literature and teachings, billions in the world to death simply because they do not buy into the notion that their leaders in New York are being led by God. Anyone who belongs to a religion at some point must have bought into the idea that theirs is the one true one. Otherwise why would they they stick with it? If they have serious doubts, it is often fear of the unknown, superstitious thinking, lack of knowledge or direction and sheer habit or laziness that makes them stick with it their entire lives. This human tendency is how the different religions survive ,sometimes even thinking their longevity or growth is a result of god blessing them. JW's are no different It seems to me, many are in it because they have based their beleifs on fearful one sided information and have been made afraid to look at it from any other angle. For most JW's, it just happens to be the one they somehow got mixed up in and have become afraid of leaving for the same reason....it's how it has survived this long.

LeavingQuiety: Remember, Jesus made it clear that many of his disciples would be led away those posing as true Christians. If they didn't look legitimate, then his disciples wouldn't be deceived.

What you're feeling is normal at this stage. Be patient. You need to follow the Bible's command, " Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.” (1 John 4:1) You have been taught many things, but likely never truly questioned these "inspired" teachings to see how true they were. To "test" something requires that you start asking questions.

Also, reflect on 1 Thessalonians 5:21, " Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.” Literally, that phrase means "be you proving." You have to start questioning everything you were taught, and prove whether it is true or not. Some of it may be true, some of it may not be true, but you have to do the work and prove it to yourself. We all could tell you what those verses mean in the greater scheme of things... but it won't mean anything until you see it for yourself. Don't assume everything you were taught is right; otherwise, you've done nothing but put your trust in nobles... and we know what the Bible says about that, right?

Hang in there... again, what you're feeling is normal. Everyone who has left a high-control group or cult goes through this stage. Even people who leave an abusive, dangerous relationship will go through moments of doubt. I promise you that it will get easier as you start testing these teachings and proving it to yourself.

No I'm not for the following reasons.

    1. Matt 7:13, 14?.....Look at the big picture, revelation talks about a limited number of "first fruits" and a UNLIMITED Great Crowd. Galatians 4:27 states that the children based on the promise "By Faith" would be greater than fleshly Israel, how big is Fleshly Israel ? ....Cults will use this scripture to hold you to a church, or a denomination or a specific group, the narrow door is Christ and the eternal Life that HE alone has to share.

    2. Matt 24:44...Being Spiritually awake has NOTHING to do with chronology or escathology, it has EVERYTHING to do with living a righteous life in Christ. Galatians 5...not living in darkness, but living in the light...works of flesh, versus fruits of the spirit.

    3. 2 Pet 3:3, 4.....It's been over 2000 years, it will happen in Gods time, however, we need to do what Perer recommended in the same letter, lead a righteous life in Christ here and now, as we await. balance is required not frantic Date setting.

    Shalom

I think this is a good passage from the bible. It's from 1 Corinthians chapter 7:

"26 Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good for a man to remain as he is. 27 Are you pledged to a woman? Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife. 28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

29 What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not; 30 those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; 31 those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away."

Read i very carefully...Paul is really telling the gongregation not to have families, because the world was passing away. This was written some 1950,maybe 1960 years ago. The people that listened to Paul and gave up normal life was really fooled by a doomsday cult. Every person who have read these verses will know that the bible is plain bullshit. Don't be frightened by the bible.
