It actually seems to be an annual festival that predates Israel- the nomads killed and ate a lamb every Spring, and used its blood to mark the poles of their tents, to ward off evil spirits. This was written up as the Passover some time probably in the 6th century B.C. to celebrate the myth of the Exodus from Egypt- which never happened, of course. Christians took over this festival, and the JW's call it the Memorial. But it seems to have its origins in the superstitious past. It's a non-event for me...

There is precisely one way I will go to this Astaroth-blaspheming wastefest. And that is if joke-hova rounds up a bunch of its filthy angels to physically and forcibly drag me to the place, and physically prevent me from walking out or disrupting the show. In fact, I hope they have to cancel the whole thing when we get a few meters of snow or when they get a blackout at the Kingdumb Hell and there is no backup generator, plus the backup lights go dead.

Hey every body ,personally I concidered going to the memorial to see if anybody was going to partake of the emblems. My reason for that is that those individuals should be very ,very old and there shouldn't be any at all left by now. I just don't understand how the number can keep staying in one place or replenishing itself, when the numbers should be decreasing greatly every year. Allen---A K A BUGGER

I will never attend another Memorial again. It was my refusal to attend the Memorial that was my breaking point. When I left for good. Why would I ever want to go back?

Why would I want to associate for 1 minute with a bunch of narrow minded cult followers who seriously believe they are superior to other human beings (how is this ritual any different from the Catholic traditions they love to demonise!) and look at you like something they have to scape of their shoe. No thank you. I personally think it sends the wrong message - 'oh, see? they DO think it's the truth - they have just lost their way and need help to come back to Jehovah'. Better they know you just can't be bothered with their nonsense get togethers.

I dont agree with their theology and if I were to go I would feel I was showing my support for it as I would be offered the emblems.

Why? Because I went in 2012 to appease my one and only remaining dub friend, and seeing all the next generation dubs dressed up like little cinderellas and miniature corporate men in suits and ties made me want to vomit.

After 15 years it is very easy for me to "forget" to go. In fact I have no idea what the time and date is anymore. And if I do go show up I don't know anybody.

my husband and I and sons do not go to any other meetings as we no longer worship with them. We were disfellowshipped for apostacizing from our baptism because when we tried to share so many things that were NOT truth from the WTBS they said we are going against our baptism because we had initially agreed to support Jehovah's spirit- directed organization and that we had believed the governing body dispensed the food at the proper time.
That was all true our entire life until ONE day Holy Spirit opened our eyes to the real truth about them.
They of course call us apostates and have been to scare everyone. We were JWs our entire lives and lived in a small community and new everybody. My husbands entire family was in our congregation. We were very strong witnesses and my husband partook for about 10 years prior to us leaving so we were respected by most.
We go and attend the memorial and ALL of us partake to set an example for them to show that they are denying themselves life forever in a paradise that they preach about by denying the new covenant that CHRIST says is open to ALL not just 144,000. John 6-48-59 tells us anyone can eat of his flesh and drink his blood. Whether you are a priest or not.
Jws preach they will be rewarded by this new covenant. The society requires all its members to live up to the same standards as the 144,000 although denying them access into this covenant. That is
" shutting up the kingdom" and they do not have this right. They are usurping the headship of CHRIST and plAying the mediator between them and Jah.
They instill fear in its people that in order to inherit life and not be destroyed at armaggedon you MUST go through them as THE TRUTH. That is blasphemy.
Christ is the only way and truth and life and door to go through to get to Jah. Not man! Not an organization!
When we attend it is the freedom we have to enter. They cannot withhold our entry even though they do not talk to us. Many others that visit can witness this also. They know what we are there for. Whether or not they want to hear or whether they refrain as Ezekiel 3 mentions we go out of LOVE for them because of LOVE for our lord and god. It may be the crack that makes just ONE person ask or it may just serve as a warning and example but either way because all our families are entrapped in this vicious cult, it is SOMETHING that we CAN do versus nothing. We never know what may happen to individuals in their hearts. And for this it is worth the nervousness of the flesh we feel when we go and enter in among our enemies.
So I hope this helps explain our view and why we do go. It is totally a personal decision.
