I went to church this morning, and I am going to a different service tonight. I am sorry you all got burned by a cult. I am sure church is the last place you want to be, but I would ask that you 'taste and see that the Lord is good'. Not Jehovah's Witnesses, or Baptists ot Catholics, but 'the Lord'.

My kids woke us up (very) early to hunt for easter eggs.
My husband and I were up till 1:00 a.m. last night, filling baskets and hiding plastic eggs. After breakfast we all went to church. My husband is a devout Catholic and never misses a Sunday. Hes not pushy and never asks me to go with him but I do occasionally. I usually spend most of the time staring at the beautiful stained glass windows and listening to the prayers that everyone has memorized except me. I usually add a few silent prayers of my own. To me the atmosphere seems more spiritual than in a kindom hall but then again it might be just that, "the atmosphere". Those high ceilings, large platforms, huge stained glass windows, shiny gold chalis "eucharistic cup" that the priest holds so respectfully. They would never think of passing it around like the witnesses do. Everything seems so majestic. Most people couldnt help having some kind of religous experience, just by being there. I remember one of the first times I attended a Catholic church, the sun was beaming through the stained glass window directly on me and "only me" during the entire service. Freaked me out!!! I like to imagine that this was a sign from God, like I was blessed or somthing and it didnt occur simply because of our choice in seating.

    Anyway,
I see nothing wrong with attending church services as long as it doesnt completely consume or control a person. I believe that religious organizations should help us feel closer to God.
Some may succeed more than others though, as most of us have realized.

Hey rekless! I didn't yell at the baptists and it wasn't our No Parking sign, it was theirs! They made an agreement with the neighborhood not to park on our street. But then, since when are they good neighbors? We hate them. They are the worst neighbors we have ever had. OK, I'm done.

The scrambled eggs were good by the way. I eat mine with a healthy dollop of Pace picante. Had a good run too.

    I went....

After leaving JW's last June, I have been scoping the area for a church. Having been raised a Presbyterian, I found a great little Presbyterian neighborhood church (180 members) and it felt like coming home. Nice traditional, conservative, almost country-like church set in an area with a lot of trees. Music is traditional rather than the modern "Jesus Rocks" praise music.

I went to Maunday Thursday services and took communion for the first time in 11 years. Thank you, God. That meant so much to me.

Attended today's Easter service. There were Easter egg hunts and live bunnies everywhere for the kids. It was great. Everything was very relaxed. And ya know what? No one even remotely resembled a pagan. [8>]

The preacher is no Billy Graham and his talks aren't heavy or extremely deep. They are instead very simple, sincere, and uplifting. What a relief after having had my "nose to the JW grind stone" for so long. Everyone was so relaxed, happy, and friendly. No one looked tired, hagard, and weary like most JW's. I wish the current JW's reading this board would realize that Jesus' yoke is light and that the unecessarily heavy yoke the WTS is requiring them to carry is of the WTS's own making.

    So very true!

    Nice thread.
