I went....
After leaving JW's last June, I have been scoping the area for a church. Having been raised a Presbyterian, I found a great little Presbyterian neighborhood church (180 members) and it felt like coming home. Nice traditional, conservative, almost country-like church set in an area with a lot of trees. Music is traditional rather than the modern "Jesus Rocks" praise music.
I went to Maunday Thursday services and took communion for the first time in 11 years. Thank you, God. That meant so much to me.
Attended today's Easter service. There were Easter egg hunts and live bunnies everywhere for the kids. It was great. Everything was very relaxed. And ya know what? No one even remotely resembled a pagan. [8>]
The preacher is no Billy Graham and his talks aren't heavy or extremely deep. They are instead very simple, sincere, and uplifting. What a relief after having had my "nose to the JW grind stone" for so long. Everyone was so relaxed, happy, and friendly. No one looked tired, hagard, and weary like most JW's. I wish the current JW's reading this board would realize that Jesus' yoke is light and that the unecessarily heavy yoke the WTS is requiring them to carry is of the WTS's own making.
