I stopped going to meetings in...1979.
THANK GOD I NEVER STARTED. My family had enough sense to SLAM THE DOOR on the JW's.
Break the chains that bind you,
unless, of course, you're into that sort of thing.
I found out the truth about the troof in 1995, dfd in 1996.
1999. Early. 1999. Thank God I didn't have to spend the last 2 years of High School being a Dub (I was a wild kitty)

I left in 1977, but still attended a meeting here and there, until my wife and I split, she was the only reason I would go at all after '77. I totally stopped going in about 1982 and moved 300 miles away from the congregation I had attended, got DF'd in 84-85.

We set a date of January 1, 1995 as being our "new beginning" away from the JWs. So it's been just a little over 7 years that we've had nothing to do with them. But for about 2 years prior to that we were going through our own "crisis of conscience", having doubts, seeing conflicts between doctrine and behaviour, inconsistencies with enforcing policy depending on a person's "position" (the ones that don't exist! [8>]) in the congregation, etc.
Seems like small potatoes compared to some of the more seasoned (and still lovable ) ex-dubs here.

Following Bible principles, we will avoid trying to live - or demand others to live - by an extensive and rigid set of dos and don'ts that go beyond the teachings of the Bible. The Watchtower, 4-15-02, pg 22, pp 15
