half of that 75% get disability and SSI checks. It was kinda funny sitting there listening to them go down the line, name by name, of the ones auxilliary pioneering since the numbers are dropped to 30 hours for March & April. As they were doing the names I was saying to myself, "she don't work", "she supposedly can't work", "he hasn't worked in years", "she gets a check", "she's probably gonna lie about the amount of hours she did" etc.. Gotta love it.

I don't know if this happens in your congregation or not, but have you ever heard someone remark about someone else behind their back, "She can show up at every gathering, but she can't show up for field service!" That's kinda how I'm looking at it right now like how is it that you can pioneer and still collect a check from the State without so much as an attempt to find work? Maybe I'm being judgemental, Lord knows I can be.

your a JW... it's the number 1 thing they are trained to do what did you expect ... LOL

Well if you are getting a check from the state, you shouldn't be ABLE to pioneer right? I suppose if you are on SSI for carpel tunnel or something maybe. Anyone getting SSI needs to be careful nobody sees them volunteering labor for JW's while accepting it.

Even while I was a fully engaged Dub, I hated the pioneer attitude of some able-bodied (to some degree) members. "I gotta keep my work part-time so I qualify for [food stamps/public aid/section 8 housing]. That's the only way I can pioneer."

Yes, I saw many pioneers not working or working minimally to be able to keep some form of government aid to assist their recruiting work efforts.

I have no problem (other than it's a dangerous mind-control cult) with retired people, or wives without secular jobs, or adult children still living at home, deciding that they can make it on the income they already have and going out recruiting.

The saddest part of what you notice will be the praise that an unemployed JW receives for "putting the kingdom first." I say it's sad because their own Bible shows them that the full-time ministers were self-sufficient. Today, self-sufficiency includes relying on government aid.

i am inactive but if you are still in and active you should put in a report for 30 hours (maybe 31 to look more beleivable) eventhough you didn't actually put in a "pioneer" application.

the elders will probably ask to count you as a pioneer to get the cong. numbers up. Of course refuse the request because 30 hours isn't "real" pioneering. :)

Well you always hear about how Jehovah provides. I wonder if Satan knows he's been fleeced.

Asolutely agree with the above. In our cong only three working age men actually worked for an employer, the others either worked as window cleaners (but only three days a week to keep their benefit) or were on long term state handouts, except they werent "state handouts",we the working ones paid for them out of our taxes!! The congregation was a disgrace and locals werent fooled by it either,I used to be so embarassed when locals commented on the workshy attitude of Jehovahs people. Now I am free to tell them just what I always thought of them. They didnt mind reminding us though how Paul refused to be a burden on his brothers so he took a job as a tentmaker. Pity they didnt apply that to themselves!

ug 30 hours I'd get that in one week in a crunch. It makes my blood boil to think of those on "disability" pioneering
