Thank you for noting the absence of "career" as an option for a Jehovah's Witness. Here's some careers I would expect to see few JW's. They require dedication, talent. Not all are guaranteed money-makers. What if a child has a particular passion and talent? Like Caleb, are their dreams to be smothered under a wet blanket, because it would make Jehovah "sad"?

Artist, journalist, actor, doctor, architect, organized sports, lawyer, or professor?

When I read paragraph 8, I wanted to reach in and throttle that spoiled brat! The WT sets up as a fine example some kid (fictitious or not) who trashes his father in front of millions of readers ( and any who didn't read the article will hear this "fine experience" from the platform for years to come ). He complains that his dad wasn't a good example to the congregation - probably not high enough on the theocratic ladder for the son. By extention - if this boy is real - the WT is trashing the dad.... probably wasn't sharing the wealth to support "theocratic" projects.

Now, suppose I realize that joke-hova is the source of problems, not joy. I in fact want to distance myself from that Almighty Lowlife Scumbag because that thing is nothing more than a killjoy determined to take away opportunities. "You've had enough" in terms of wealth and fun--binding children with limits that are going to prevent them from being all they can be is a form of child abuse, and can bind a person from anything and everything that makes life worthwhile. This crap can even go beyond this life, damning a soul.

Instead, I wish to draw closer to Satan. With Satan, there is freedom. Things that are natural to human living are not "sins". There is no wasted time doing pointless exercises with regard to people in the past whom joke-hova may or may not have blessed, and may not have even been anything beyond a great big lie. There is no getting up at 6 in the morning to make a boasting session or be out in field circus, no dressing up in suits that need to be dry cleaned, no wasting the full 4 hours playing crap from the LIE-ble or practicing field circus, no wasting several hours in field circus when it is 40 C or -40 C (and a meter of snow blocking your car from parking spaces), no wasting money on gas and field circus supplies, and no spending years and years trying to qualify for positions with no reward.

With Satan, instead you get real instructions. True, some have weak souls (from past lives or abuse from this life, or both). However, at least you get to learn where you are going, where you came from, how to get there, and most importantly how to control fate (of course, if your soul is bound, you will have problems with that but at least you are not wasting time binding it even worse). And, NO TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK! No stumbling others, either. With stupidity being the only sin in Satanism, each person is responsible. Satan doesn't encourage people to smoke or take drugs--contrary to what the washtowel lies about this. But, if someone chooses to smoke, that is their problem and they will deal with the natural consequences. Satan doesn't bust up families simply because someone commits fornication, smokes, or celebrates a holiday (most of which are actually joyful--few if any Satanists find joy in the holidays that are simply about penance since they are not naturally joyful).

    I liked paragraph 7:

7 On the other hand, what if your aim is merely to become wealthy? Perhaps you will succeed. Even if you do, however, remember that such “success” will come at a price—one that you cannot afford.

So there it is, no question.

"Success comes at a price you cannot afford."

Next time you see a successful JW, know he has paid an unpayable price for it.

Oh, and just to add to Blondies list about Chess:

IS CHESS A SAFE GAME TO PLAY?

    NO - g73 3/22 p. 14 Chess—What Kind of Game Is It?

Some chess players have recognized the harm that can result from playing the game.

The extreme fascination of chess can result in its consuming large amounts of one’s time and attention to the exclusion of more important matters. Also, in playing it there is the danger of “stirring up competition with one another,” even developing hostility toward another, something the Bible warns Christians to avoid doing.

Then, too, grown-ups may not consider it proper for children to play with war toys, or at games of a military nature. Is it consistent, then, that they play a game noted to be, in the opinion of some, an “intellectualized equivalent of the maneuvers enacted by little boys with toy soldiers”? What effect does playing chess really have upon one? Is it a wholesome effect?

Surely chess is a fascinating game. But there are questions regarding it that are good for each one who plays chess to consider.

    YES - g79 1/22 p. 10 Playing Indoor Games

And, of course, chess is another board game that has long provided many persons much pleasure.

    NO - g94 1/22 p. 29 Watching the World

There is growing concern that such amusement encourages violence. University of Calgary sociology professor Robert Stebbins said in The Globe: “There is a fuzzy line between war games considered problematic and those considered acceptable, such as chess with its castles and armies. The intent is violent.” One teenage player said: “It seems kind of weird to promote a game for pleasure that is associated with war. . . . When you think of the message this gives, it doesn’t seem right.”

    YES - g96 9/22 p. 22 How Can I Have a Good Time?

What are some things you can do at a gathering—besides simply watching TV, listening to music, or conversing? “We usually plan the evening in advance,” says Sanchia. “We’ve played games or had someone play the piano, so we could sing songs together.” An African youth named Masene says: “We sometimes play cards, draughts [checkers], and chess.”

The organization acts like they have all the answers and the only hotline to a god who holds all the cards. The reality is they are deceitful liars and manipulators and they have nothing to offer. Their so called guidance to the "best life" is worthless. I wish they would crumble to the ground so they would stop ruining people's lives.
