There were 14 less this year than last year. Many of the people I've seen in past years were not there either. There were quite a few empty seats. I did my familial duty for the year and went, everyone was nice to me.

If the hall was packed with invitees: Look how Jehovah blesses our work. Surely the end is close. If the hall has none: Look how Jehovah blesses our work. Surely the end is close.

Desirous of Change:
Good observation. Unfortunately, the demographics of the religion have changed over the last decade or so and there are fewer and fewer responsible working people there and instead are the marginal types you observed.
While this may sound great to some people and the religion can boast of bigger numbers, it is very bad news for anybody still there who is a responsible working person. They will be targeted left and right by people looking for handouts. Anybody who doesn't see this coming must be kidding themselves.
This is one of the reasons why I am glad I am no longer part of this religion because I would never tolerate this, in or OUT of the religion.

acting in accord with Jesus's message to help the poor and afflicted.... etc.
there will soon be many jws jumping ship i think. from what I hear, they are not so good when it comes to charitable work.

Sounds like a nice waste of energy. Whether global warming is real or not is beside the point when your religion hawks it--claiming it is real in their rags. They claim man-made global warming is real, and then they waste gas going out and distributing these wastes of paper. They put carbon dioxide in the air (remember, they have a share in claiming that doing so helps warm the planet) by processing the trees, printing the wastes of paper, and distributing them from door to door. This is hypocrisy--worse than the polluting itself.
Going past the pollution issue, they waste people's money. How much of that gas money is spent by the pious-sneers, who must waste who knows how much per week during this stupidity. And that is money that could do other things. Each tank of gas (and I am assuming a small car, with a gas tank of 12 gallons in the United Tyranny of Stupidity, and 3 1/2 toilet papers a gallon) costs slightly more than an ounce of silver. For one tank of gas wasted, you could get 3 of the new Cree LED light bulbs (the 60-watt version) and save energy and pollution (and, if they want to abide by their own advice in their rags, carbon dioxide in the air). (Not to mention, no more replacing those incandescent bulbs or worrying about mercury, chemicals, electromagnetic pollution, or fires from the squiggly things.) They could have bought a battery charger that charges all kinds of NiMH batteries, or 3 packs of 4 Sanyo Eneloop AA batteries, or 2 packs of 2 D batteries in low self-discharge NiMH, or for about 1 1/2 tanks of gas, they could have bought a Fenix LD22 flashlight and been ready for the next blackout. But no, they had to waste it on gas to distribute wastes of paper.
Additionally, the REJECT Astaroth Party itself wastes energy. If they are still using fluorescent tubes, each fixture uses 32 watts per tube (T-8, 4 feet/1.2 meters). They could easily be looking at more than 1,000 watts just to light the auditorium, plus who knows how many to light the lobby. (Plus, if they are using squiggly things to light the lobby, the health problems from the dirty electricity emitted by those things along with the electromagnetic chaos they create). They run the heat, and those things are notorious for being the most inefficient climate control systems on the planet. Some are using air conditioning--again, notorious for being cheap crap. All this use of energy puts carbon dioxide in the air, which according to their own rags is part responsible for global warming. Whether that is true or not is besides the point--it is hypocrisy that is the real issue here.
And for what? So people can sit there and waste their evening. I remember dreading that night. People with children would have them dressed for a boasting session, and they would have extra stress to herd them to this event. From there, there is the stress of listening to the same 45 minute talk, boring as always. Then they get to pass the plate of stale crackers (as often as not, they are kosher matzos which gives away the true origin of this religion) and spoiled grape juice. That time could have been spent resting, watching TV, studying homework or doing school work, working a secular job, browsing online, or having a real party where you could have the food and drink of your choosing. Whether you choose to have unleavened bread (you can make it yourself) and real wine (or grape juice), or pizza and beer, or real food, that is up to you. But, wasting the time on a dry talk in the name of salvation, then rejecting it because you are being told to (and not being told that you are rejecting salvation from both sides) is not acceptable.

Over half of the congregation here auxilliary pioneered, and they placed around 3500 memorial invitations. There was maybe only 1 person who came as a result of the invitations (even he might have heard about it by word of mouth) - other visitors were just a handful of bible studies who would have probably come anyway.
