Cedars, I have posted on your site before, but now I'm getting a message that prevents me from commenting.
What a bold move by your informant! Kudos to them and to you for all your research. This is quite some "new light" to ponder and as someone recently awakened, I hope this article gets a few more JW's thinking. One can only hope. Thanks for all your hard work Cedars.

I have not read all 7+ pages of this thread, so forgive me if anyone else has pointed this out, but the "New Light" in this leaked article is not exactly the same as what is on the jw.org website from the Annual Meeting Report posted November 9th, 2012.
There, in answer to the question, "Who Really Is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?," the explanation given is this:
That slave is the small, composite group of anointed brothers serving at world headquarters during Christ’s presence who are directly involved in preparing and dispensing spiritual food. When this group work together as the Governing Body, they act as “the faithful and discreet slave."
This clearly says that the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" (FDS) is the Governing Body and only the Governing Body (GB) when they work together as a group. However, the wording in the "leaked 'New Light'" allows for the possibility of other, unspecified "anointed brothers" to also be part of the FDS:
Throughout the last days, the anointed brothers who make up the faithful slave have served together at headquarters. In recent decades, that slave has been closely associated with the Governing body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Note, however, that the word “slave” in Jesus’ illustration is singular, indicating that this is a composite slave. The decisions of the Governing Body are thus made collectively.” (w13 7/15 p.22, par.10)
"Associated with" is NOT equivalent to "is the same as."
Admittedly, the wording is vague and open to interpretation, but it does allow for the inclusion of other "anointed" ones that are NOT part of the GB to be part of the FDS. In other words, the FDS need not be exclusively the GB.
That being said, also according to the leaked information posted on JWSurvey.org, the more concise language in the box on page 22 more clearly defines the FDS as the GB and only the GB:
“‘The faithful and discreet slave’: A small group of brothers who are directly involved in preparing and dispensing spiritual food during Christ’s presence. Today, these anointed brothers make up the Governing Body.” (w13 7/15 p.22 box)
Leave it to the Watchtower writers to come up with yet more unclear, ambiguous doctrines that must be blindly accepted no matter how confusing or unclear.

Here is an analogy to ponder:
Since 1935 the great crowd has been closely associated with the anointed.
Today the great crowd make up the anointed.
I'm thinking that they might mean 'associated with' as in 'mice are generally associated with cheese'.. As in people have mentally associated GB with FDS. Doesn't make any sense to me otherwise, but then I am crazy.

First of all thank you so much Cedars for your labors and fine work! I really appreciate how you broke it all down.
Second this may be my breaking point as far as still being in physically. Reading their justification gave me a splitting headache! I really question if I will be able to physically sit through these lessons when they are studied. The weak, contadictory reasoning, I mean Jesus feeding the crowd is proof of the GB being used today?!! The audacity to say they havent been appointed over belongins yet but they insist that they will be!! The height of pridefulness! If they were anything like Christ they would have at least a little humility. Meanwhile they say all must follow them if they have any hope at a relationship with God. I dont think I can stay silent much longer. I know most JW already equated the GB with the FDS but this is major IMO. On the bright side though the flimsy and prideful reasoning for their power grab is sure to wake many more thinking ones up. I value the peace in my home, but I feel my sanity is worth more. I know the day is coming when I must tell my wife that I will not be attending the KH anymore. Hearts will be broken. But its more important that I stand up for what is right for my and my 3 yr old daughters sake, and let the chips fall where they may.
What is more fustrating is that as time goes along, their arguments seem to become weaker and weaker. Many must see it but are trained if they dont understand, its because their heart isnt right. It should be obvious that Jesus didnt pick Rutherford of all people to lead anything, someone who displayed none of the fruits of the spirit! These are facts! They seem so obvious and I get so frustrated especially after seeing the latest from Cedars but I know getting upset wont solve anything, I must be calm if I have any hope of breaking through the programming.
It is frightening the direction this group is taking. With the picture in the WT that excludes Jesus from the chain of command to the latest Sh*tlight in this WT the GB are directly seizing ultimate power and making it to where they will feel comfortable saying and doing more and more extreme things IMO. On the bright side this will wake up so many. Thanks again Cedars and our whistleblower too.
